.....is the best we can expect? At the start of the season would we have accepted this? There is little point continuing the negativity about LJ as he ain't going anywhere soon
Anything other than a top 10 finish should be regarded as abject failure. LJ couldnt guide us to a top 10 finish if we played in a 10 team league. Couldnt care less about a tin pot trophy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As much as I hope we win the JPT, Johnson should only be judged on our league position, in my opinion.
Mid table would be a great finish from where we are now. Can't really see it myself. johnson has recruited poorly previously and we have lots of players out of contract/ end of loans. Anywhere outside bottom 4 would do. Anything less than top 10 given our advantages against other teams is poor both from the manager and the players.
No I wouldn't have taken mid table and I'm far from happy that at this point I'd take it. Regardless of the tinpot cup, which I couldn't care less about, we should only judge Johnson on the league in which he has been a pitiful failure since taking charge.
Amazingly, I still think its a slight possibility if we act soon. With this idiot in charge theres absolutely no chance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just don't understand some of our fans. If I wasn't excited by the prospect of my team playing at Wembley in a final then I'd just sack football off. I can't believe some of the nonsense I'm reading calling it tinpot & saying only the league matters. You're telling me that in 15 years time you'd think back more fondly to staying in the league than playing in a final at Wembley? And I'm someone who doesn't rate Johnson at all & feel we'd be better off sacking him so no one can say I'm defending the trophy for his benefit. I just think modern fans are weirdos. Most fans of City, United, Arsenal & Chelsea seem to look down at the FA Cup & League Cup like some of you do the JPT. They'd rather finish top 4 & get their annual battering off of Barca, Real or Bayern than win a cup at Wembley. I just don't understand it, I'd honestly find myself a different hobby if I was a football fan & winning trophies didn't appeal to me
Had you offered me a mid-table finish and a trip to Wembley at the start of the season, with the squad we'd got, I would have snatched your hand off. I'd do the same now. Priority was then, and still is, staying up. We can talk all day about what we should be doing with our resources, but the fact of the matter is, for whatever reason, we didn't sign the players with the quality and experience required for anything other than a relegation scrap. We should have done, but we didn't, and you have to deal with the reality of the situation. Sign up Hammill for the rest of the season or beyond; get a solid, experienced centre half who knows how to organise a defence; a similar player in central midfield; and some strength and power up front to play alongside Winnall, and mid-table should be achieved relatively comfortably. However, Hammill may get a much more lucrative offer from another club and sign for them; Pearson's loan deal expires in January (along with about a dozen others) and he may return to Man Utd or go elsewhere (for all the talk of him being here with a view to a permanent move, he hasn't signed yet), Scowen's injury could be worse than first feared and we may not get the experience in central defence and midfield we so desperately need. We failed to do so in the summer, there's no guarantee we'll be successful this time around. I'm not trying to paint a depressing picture, but the squad we have still under contract after January isn't good enough to keep us up, no matter who the manager is. We will need signings and there are no assurances that we'll get them or that they'll be good enough or that they'll settle quickly enough. As such, I'd take 5th from bottom if it was offered right now, even without the trip to Wembley.
I wasnt particularly fussed about playing at Wembley in the FA Cup nevermind this no hopers trophy. Its actually used as a insult by other fans even being involved in it. Winning such a poor competition for league 2 football? You must be dizzy blud Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
To see Barnsley at Wembley in any final would do me. Clubs of our size/stature should be making the most of this opportunity. Wembleys Wembley
Wembley should be saved for proper big occasions, FA Cup/League Cup finals (not that im fussed about either) and Play offs. Amazing that only 3 (i think it is) of the 92 FL clubs have yet to appear at the new Wembley, takes something away from the big occasions if you ask me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exactly this. My little lad is 11 and is already excited at the prospect of a 1st visit to Wembley. Yep still 2 games before we get there, but what does it matter if it's the FA Cup, League Cup, FA Vase, Play Off Final or JPT a final is a final and a trip to Wembley doesn't come round that often Sent from my SM-G800F using Forum Runner
