Great trip down yesterday and brilliant match/atmosphere. Would be interested to hear other folks' views relating to travel (especially parking at Stanmore if anyone tried). We drove down and parked at Hatfield and got train/tube. Needed to go into central London before the game so the extra time to get from Hatfield wasn't a problem. £1 in car park then £8.50 travel card/train ticket so not bad. Very impressed with tubes away from the ground. We were "controlled" by police on Olympic Way to avoid crush at Wembley Park which meant that trains were partially empty when setting off! Still only took about 25mins from end of game until on tube.(P.S. loads of trains - I reckon the whole crowd queueing would have been on a tube within 45 mins.) Predictably very busy before game around the stadium but a good place to go is the First Class Sports Bar (turn right out of Wembley Park and it's about 100yd or metres on the right - they've got a big tent and bar in the carpark round the back with burger van as well). Stadium positives are the view, escalators up to top tier, space around seats and sound system (especially compared to St James' Park!!) Negatives are the bogs and catering. Impossible to go to loo after half-time whistle and get back to seat for start of second half - oh, and no alcohol - why? Altogether much better experience than I'd feared - might go back for the motor-racing(!!!??!!!) there later in the year
I think the Alcohol rule is UEFA wide for qualifiers
4cans of strongbow on Wembley way will cover that though!

I would have said closer to 1 hour from leaving ground to getting on the tube. Parking at Stanmore was fine, bit annoyed about the bloody roadworks on way back, especially the ones where they closed two lanes without any warning As to wembley stadium, atmosphere was fantastic, good views and a top class stadium
Maybe much fewer trains going North from Wembley Park? Lane closures on M1? You were lucky - A1 completely shut for about 10 miles south of Retford.
RE: I think the Alcohol rule is UEFA wide for qualifiers Does that mean there wasn't any alcohol for the corporate empty seats then?
'You were lucky' Hee Hee. Two Yorkshireman battle it out on how bad they had it getting home. In the car were you? You were lucky. We had to crawl home on us hands and knees.
Debenture seats chartered train from Marylebone, sat in corporate luxuriousness from 5:30, drinking as much champagne, wine, beer as one could quaff, found my padded seat at 7:50, staggered back to 'HQ' at half time where bottle of Claret was awaiting, then made it back to seat on 51 mins, prawn sandwich hanging from my gob, much to the annoyance of John Motson and Roy Keane no doubt. Needless to say I failed to make it anywhere near home and spent the night in a hotel nr Holborn with my underpants on my head. I missed my son's birthday today an' all.
I'll be up for Scunny on setdi though. Ying and Yang. Micky Owen, etc.

May have to try it one day I get free parking in Stanmore anyway, so none of this Park and Ride rubbish, where some little yob could break in. Seriously though, hope you enjoyed the experience, let's hope we're there soon to watch the reds!
