Really enjoyed it. I cant believe how different it is compared to when it was The Orchard. It looks great, alot better than previously. Nice grub, good service and good value.

One thing that did disappoint though was the music. Not the quality, the volume. Four of us were in for a nice meal, and a quiet drink. The volume whilst we were eating was nice, pleasant. Not long after we finished eating the volume steadily increased, to a point where we couldnt hear each other. I went upstairs to the toilet, and it was a lot better upstairs. Nice bar up there, quieter, and the music was still at a good level.

On the whole though im really impressed with the place and will deffo visit again soon.

The upstairs bar - do they still have the handpumps up there?

Glad you enjoyed it - I was surprised how far back it went at the bar area (forgetting how much the brewery area took up before). Looking forward to a pub crawl between there and the Gatehouse soon!

Sorry mate, I didnt take notice of the handpumps at all. Only had a glance at the bar and it looked fine. Liek you, I couldnt believe how big it actually is in there, they have utilised the space far better now. Glad its no-smoking too. Can actually come out of there and smell fresh and smoke free.

    LOL

as you can tell, im not a regular in town so I didnt know this, until my cousin told me whilst we were out. Sheltered life an all that!

I cant really recall if there was a real theme with the music, but it was more easy listening stuff rather than rock. Billy Joel - River of Dreams was played which satisfied my taste.

    No

I dont think so. Just easy listenin thats all, but easy listening defeats the object when you pump it up Jack.

    "Easy Listening"

Now there's an oxymoron! I find it anything but easy listening!

I think you'll find an oxymoron stands alone regardless of context.

    Have that Mr P.

Do they have Sky Sports? I was thinking of going in there on Saturday before the match but want to watch the Sheff U V Liverpool match first.
