No doubt most of you saw it on Sky Sports - it was even worse witnessing it live. It became almost embarrassing in the end, culminating with their farcical 3rd goal. SD chose a midfield of JCR, Leon, Devaney and Anderson - none of whom can tackle well. They were just brushed aside by Palace's stronger more physical players in midfield. Big error of judgement there I feel. Up front, we were also overcome so easily. Rigters looks a stone overweight, and barely broke sweat - I've no idea why he was chosen before Kayode. Hume tried his best but needs a strong player alongside him. Anderson had a really poor game - gave the ball away easily and put us in danger on several occasions. He looks a shadow of the player I last saw. SD seems unable to change things and unless someone with fresh ideas is brought in soon, I fear for our chances of avoiding the drop. PC needs to act very soon before it's too late.
Musn't be totally negative........ I thought JCR tried very hard and was our most dangerous player by far. Hume worked tirelessly but had little support from Rigters or the midfield. But we were always second best, they usually got to the ball first and brushed us aside.
I stopped thinking after a while Not a many positives to take from today at all Midfield didnt function at all - Attack what is the point of Rigters - I would be as effective up front and then 2 comedy goals to finish perfect Still good on Davey for taking off Hassel who was probably our best player - that made good sense
......'It became ALMOST embarrassing' tell thi summert.............I were sat on my own in the front room watching this match - AND I WAS TOTALLY EMBARRESSED ( So I feel for the poor sods that actually went to the game
RE: ......'It became ALMOST embarrassing' Some of the LT's actually got so embarrased they left Selhurst Park early and went back to the pub with about 10 mins left.
For the first few minutes of the second half... ... I thought we could still get back into the game. Palace were still probably better even then, but for a moment I thought we could still get something from the game. Of course it was all over when Palace scored their second.
New tactic -leave JCR as last defender when we take a corner Noticed yesterday, when we have a corner, JCR is at present being given the role of last defender. It backfired for their first goal, when he was skinned by their forward who ran on to be taken out by Muller for their penalty. And it nearly happened again in the 2nd half when JCR was exposed in a quick counter-attack following one of our corners. JCR's great going forward, and will track back all day long to help his full-back, but I don't think it's too good an idea relying on him to make a last ditch tackle.
It's coming to something When even the missus who has only witnessed 2 games live and a handful of games on telly can see our failings, and she doesn't even understand football yet!
2 of my favs played for Palace, could have signed both good strong Championship proven players instead of these in and out foreign players,Clint Hill and Shawn Derry.
We had no midfield Shaun Derry and Ben Watson.
Personified everything we don't have. One bossing central midfield the other box to box supporting his defence and forward line.
We'll be down by Christmas unless Davey addresses that.

Bingo And where was Colace? He was definitely well and truly missed - especially once it was clear that Andresson was having a mare
RE: Bingo Andersen was defensively doing the job of 2 men in midfield yesterday (not very well) because Leon can`t tackle, wont tackle, doesn`t want to track back and get behind the ball. Next game Andersen/Colace or get overrun by the striped *****.
I went yesterday, and it's the day my patience snapped. I booed like **** and joined in with the Davey out chants, because that is what the team and manager warranted. We are absolutely doomed. My God. I was with a non-Barnsley fan who said: they don't look like a team. They don't help each other out. Do you seriously have to watch this all the time? It's like watching someone on a video game who can't get the hang of the controls - no passing, no purpose, just running with the ball until it's taken off you.
Regret to agree.... For me, this was Davey's most crucial season in his management career. If he is to be recognised as a young and up-and-coming manager of the David Moyes type, this was his season. He has improved the squad and has had control for a season and a half, just over. I believe that the problem started before the season did. What were the targets for this season? To 'do better than last year and get into comfortable mid-table?' Well, that's going to motivate the players, isn't it? They are a skilled bunch, of a youngish age, most of them, and want to be part of a successful side. The target should have been declared by Davey as 'at least let's get into the play-offs.' If Wednesday can do it with their rag-bag team, we could more than have done it. It would have motivated the players and some financial incentives should have been dangled to get them motivated. As it is, we seem to turn out and just have the objective of taking part in a game of football, win, lose, or draw. It really showed to me, comparing the commitment of the Wednesday players in the Sheffield derby to our efforts at Palace. I don't think many teams will sutff us, because they know they don't have to. If we go a goal down, just one or two of our players will have the desire to scrap back for an equaliser. Anderson's non-tackle on Carle typified our effort. And Anderson is a class player, make no mistake - he just isn't motivated enough and it showed yesterday in him more than any other player. I would love to be wrong about Davey and will gladly eat my words. This side has good enough quality to stay up, but I am increasingly doubtful that this can happen under the current regime. This is still Davey's defining season. It is probably more crucial for him than any of the players. What will history say of his management skills by the time May arrives? I hope that he has turned round both himself and the team.
