Very true, i never expected us to be top half come the end of the season, having said that i also never expected us to have won only 2 games all season playing some of the tripe we have. Im all for stability, but what sacrifice are the club willing to risk to maintain it ?
In retrospect, considering its turned out we've played against the top 6/8 at the time but also considering we have played those in and around us aswell possibly should have got 4-6 more points.
Without major investment in January, or a change in manager, I think the bottom three will be THE bottom three. I'd swap Flicker for Gary Johnson, mind.
I genuinely thought we'd be doing better. I was probably being naive, but I think we've got some decent players at this level and with the amount of points we picked up in the second half of last season, I thought our fortunes were going to change. I didn't for a minute think we'd be challenging for promotion, but I thought we'd be able to move up to that middle third of the table, somewhere between 10th and 16th. With a bit luck, actually make it in to the top half. We're not, and I'm disappointed, but I don't equate being disappointed with sacking your manager. If I did, I'd be sacking our manager most weekends. Actually, that's not too different to what we've done since Wilson left.
