Probably the best free kick i've ever seen at Oakwell. Batter than owt i've seen by Roberto Carlos (except for THAT particular one)

Not as good as the one Ian Banks scored against Burnley or Agnew against Chelsea but it was a top free kick

Are you old enough to remember Banger Banks

Not seen Werlings yet but i still remember one from Banger from a good 35 yards that the keeper didnt even get near. Be interested if any one can compare the two

    Not the best

but right up there. The arc on the ball and power was similar to the Rob Carlos one in Le Tournoi.

Never saw it mate tbh. I did see Banger for us a few times, but it was the back end of his career 89-90 season when I first started going to Oakwell. Even though the keeper got to this one (looked like both hands) he still couldn't keep it out, such was the power. Although there will be older people that says the balls are much lighter now, which I do agree with, you still cannot discredit that goal - it was awesome. Im sure something will be made of it on the championship tomorrow, even though it was only "little Barnsley".

I weren't behind it so can't comment on that. I saw it from the side though, and it sure travelled!

It was hit well and swerved a bit...

But having seen the replay at half time, the keeper will be embarrassed to let it in.

I'm looking forward to seeing a replay

I thought the goalie made a right arse of it first time, and was too busy laughing at the Roberto-Carlosness of the run up, power etc. to consider it might have been that good. Looked like it went in the middle of the goal from where I was sat.

Couldn't have come at a better time either

I also thought the goalie made a hash of it.

If Colgan had let that in

There are some on here who would have spontaneously combusted. TBH I thought their keeper was crap all afternoon. Other than that they were a good side and a good win for us. Souza stood out on the day for me. I questioned his involvement in Plymouth's second - thought he was maybe fouled at the time. However, on telly, it looks like a slip rather than a push and he was also marking Hayles for their first. Generally pleased with the new signings but concerned Mostto not getting a look in - £600k to be 4th in the pecking order seems pretty outrageous.

The problem with the 2nd goal

was that Souza was trying to play the ball on the bounce with his left foot when it was on his right side. I don't think I've ever seen him kick with his right foot. Shame, because he had an outstanding game - totally dominant in the air and totally composed on the ball. I'd had some doubts over him so was very pleased to see his performance.

Will keep improving as he gets used to the English game I'm sure

RE: If Colgan had let that in

Souza's involvement in their 2nd was why Foster shaded MotM for me. Otherwise he looked very solid. Like you say, thought he may have been fouled at first. Looking at goals on TV one of our defenders on the ground following their first and a couple of players appealing.
Had Colgan been in goal for that one there'd have been harsh criticism as well on here.

When it got to 3-2 with so long left I feared the worst but we managed to dig in and should have wrapped it up near the end.

An advantage being in the Ponty for this one

It was going straight at the keeper but swerved dramatically at the last minute. Keeper got a good hand on it but late, as he was caught by surprise with the movement.
