West brom are putting on free coaches (They will put on upto 40 coaches if required). Could bump the gate up if they bring 4000-5000
Another Club Putting On Free Coaches Against Us When are we going to do something similar for our fans?
RE: Another Club Putting On Free Coaches Against Us Never, why should we. We are the cheapest team to watch in the league ..... (blagger) (blagger) (blagger)
But hosting teams aren't the cheapest in the league... I agree with dreamboy, it's about time we tried to get some fans away from the well.
i sent in an email at the end of last season to club about this and they said it was a good idea and maybe do it this season it all comes down to money though. west brom would be able to afford it more than we could. don't forget we not getting the fans at home to bring money in but if they did would it attract more fans to go?? to be honest i dont think so. people will just find more excuses of why they wont go. and others would rather pay and go with pubs and clubs
RE: Another Club Putting On Free Coaches Against Us West Brom have an average attendance at least double ours, they have greater income streams, charge more to watch the games, so they will have more money to play with and more options to do this. If we were to recipricate against West Brom as an example (yes I realise we have already played them), then it would cost the club a considerable amount of money to put on say 10 free coaches. At the end of the day, Barnsley FC are not a big club, the attendances are poor and the money is not coming in to allow such senarios to be considered. Fans did not come in numbers when the gate prices were reduced, yes you can argue that the games were not advertised, but everyone on this board knew the games were at reduced prices, the club actually lost money against Crystal Palace. The club have offered reductions for the coach fare to Southend, yes I know it is a Friday and I am as dissapointed as most because I cannot go, but the clubs reasoning behind the decision is understandable. We have a game on the Tuesday night, when Southend suggested the change, Barnsley considered it and made the decision that it would help the players to have an extra days rest. They wil have considered the fact that Blackpool had an extra rest before they played us on Sky and looked sharper, especially in the last 20 minutes. Remember that Colchester do not have a game that weekend. Also Southend argued that their gate would be higher on a friday night. Our away following was also considered, we took 263 to the cup game last year, yes we took just under a 1000 to the must win league game, but the view was taken that the numbers we would take would have been similar to last years cup game, maybe right, maybe wrong. At the end of the day What would you prefer 1. Free travel to an away game such as west brom 2. Reduced match day prices 3. A new signing that strengthens the team, scores goals and helps to get us championship survival and a top half finish. The club cannot give it all, unless we want the spectre of losing money and administration dawning again. My preference is number 3.
RE: Another Club Putting On Free Coaches Against Us 3, 1 and 2 would be my preference. Number two does nothing for season ticket holders. To be fair though, number one doesn't do anything for the many fans who don't live in the area.
You're just a pillock For reasons it would take me all day to list. Anyway, you've got your free travel now.
RE: You're just a pillock I don't see why we should put free travel on for league games. It's just giving more money to away teams!! But a cup game is a great idea, like Southend!!
RE: You're just a pillock Awwww that Jay bloke off the BBS doesn't like me. I had a lift sorted anyway.
