Surely West Ham tore up the agreement

Thats what they told the league
So the league are saying that means West Ham must get all the transfer fee then - as they hold the registration and tore up the commercial agreement with the 3rd party. Simple really

Of course some people thought that one side cant just tear up an agreement - seems we might have been right

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/6290492.stm

    This bit is particularly interesting

"The Hammers were fined £5.5m and warned that Tevez would be unable to play for them while the third-party agreement was still in place.

West Ham immediately ripped it up - but Joorabchian claims he did not agree to that. "

If The agreement was still in place surely West Ham played an illegible player for the last matches of of the season and so should have had points deducted......

I doubt it will resurect the blunts

    no matter.

    Some compo for blunts?

WHU start next season on -10?

Or more likely it fizzles out and gets swept reluctantly under the carpet again.

    Of course he does

Do you really think he will give away a £16 million (or whatever) player just because West Ham tore up an agreement. See the analogy from Eaststander above.

Too late for the Blunts to get back into the Prem - but West Ham surely have been proved to have played an illegible player for most of last season - I hardly think their punishment was correct. And The Blunts must surely be given some financial compensation

west ham HAVE to be relegated now. They were given a £5m fine and given specific instructions on what they had to do in order to play him again yet they deliberatly and knowingly broke the rules again a week after being warned. They have to be relegated, if not then the premier league is proving itself to be bent.

    Why is it too late?

If it was us we'd want re-instating and although I don't think that they will be, West Ham SHOULD be relegated, TWO divisions.

They have held football in contempt not once but twice and and for the Premier League to brush it under the carpet again will prove once and for all that it is morally bankrupt.

That's what will be said - it's not about Sheff Utd anyway, they weren't wronged, they finished bottom 3, they should relegate West Ham and promote the playoff runners up

Whoever goes back in, it's certain that the orrible hammers should be relegated, at least to the Championship. But I bet my B*ll*cks to a barn dance that they won't be. The Premier League has not got the guts.

How can they be allowed to start the season, even with a large points deduction, and still earn the £50m plus that being there will entail?

Simple...give all WHU Premiership earnings for the season to Sheff Utd !
I do agree that West Ham should be relegated twice now - they've obviously lied and gained an unfair advantage.
If the Premiership won't do it, then the FL and FA should make them !

I never understood the "We just tore up the agreement, because we were told to"

    Hence it doesn't exist.

    How does that work?

I'd like to tear up my mortgage agreement and stop paying them ... but I don't for one minute think it means I don't still owe the money.

West Ham would be over a barrel negotiating the get out clause for that contract. You can just see it. Relegation and £20million at stake if you don't come to an agreement with us over getting out of this contract. You can just see the conversation now. "Let me see what it's going to cost. How about, you pay us erm lets say ... £20 million ... and you still win because you don't get relegated ... a real WIN-WIN. It's that or no deal, you choose. You've got 5 minutes to decide because we think we can sell him to about 5 clubs for that amount of money, without any problem."

"If the Premiership won't do it, then the FL and FA should make them"
Eh? Firstly the FL have no jurisdiction over the Premiership, it is administered by the FA, so if the "Premiership won't do it" then that is effectively the FA who won't do it!

Perhaps West Ham and the trotters should have a death-match: Curbishley against Barny Sornob, with guns.

Shame some people are more interested in seeing another team and their fans suffer than doing what's right for the game.
