Just uploaded some more videos to my YouTube channel. West Ham away in the league cup and a few season highlights videos.
Just watched the 1991/92 season and it was great to see David Currie marauding from the wing. We seem to have had a lot of forwards who do this, as opposed to being pure target men. If you can run with the ball, and beat players, why not? Time and time again he picked it up wide and beat several before getting a shot away. This was his second spell at the club and he was unable to nail down a regular place, due to the good form of the two Andys - Rammell and Saville. Interesting seeing the Wilkinson/Hendrie partnership playing against us for Boro. I was away for the whole of this season, serving in RAF Germany, and only got to see the Reds twice (Cambridge and Watford away) so it was good to see this collection again. Well done Shane on doing an excellent conversion job from my original VHS tape. Top quality! Oh, and this was the last season we had the ground in the old format. The new East Stand construction started at the end of that campaign.
Does anyone have any footage of or know who scored for us when we beat West Ham in December 1990? That was my first game I attended.
I will have some footage somewhere. It will be off Calendar or Look North as the club didnt start doing season videos until the 91/92 season. Unless somebody can correct me.
Was at West ham that night contemplating long journey back when 2 nil down at half time. Turned out to be great night went with social club when used to be at side football ground
Thanks for this. I always thought Charlie Bishop scored for some reason however he didnt sign until following season i don't think. I was 9 so don't remember a great deal other than trying to find somewhere to see in Brewery Stand.
It was Smudge who scored I think they were on a 20 match unbeaten run until they came to Oakwell. It was a bit of a fortress that season .
I thought id just found it on a west ham season review but they didnt include that match footage! Just a screen showing Smith as scorer and attendance c.10,300
Now I'm really pushing my memory, but I think the goal came at the away end, from a free-kick that Ian Banks flicked over the wall from a standstill and Smith put it in as it came down. Caught everyone out. That type of free kick has now been outlawed I believe as it's classed as remaining in contact with the ball. Anyone else remember it?
All i remember- and this is probably completely wrong- is a player running towards away end (as you also remember) practically on his own as though it was a counter attack and scoring. My 9 year old's memory is probably a million miles out!
Haha! Memories are like opinions, we've all got them, not sure if they're accurate. But the result stays the same!
It was Steve Agnew mate who took the free kick......he tried it again at the back end of the season against Plymouth but this time it didn't come off......sithi.
