    Crawley wondering how he missed out when we've just got the fastest team 50 in test match history.

    Weird that we want to look to the future so get rid of Anderson but play Woakes. I expected Pennington to play.

    He will get more game time next week for the Northern Superchargers when The Hundred starts on Tuesday.

    Strange indeed. ECB retire Anderson and have a 35 year old and a 34 year old leading the bowling attack and get told we are planning for the next Ashes tour in 25/26.

    No idea why Woakes is there. I guess they had to retire Anderson 1st but he must know his time is almost done. I assume they are hoping Wood can play 2+ tests in Australia along with Atkinson and hopefully Archer. We probably need at least one more genuine quick. Without that level of pure pace bowling we may as well not bother.

    Especially as Woakes has a very poor record abroad, so there should be no chance of him going to Australia.

    I wasn't happy with last few wickets that fell particularly Woakes. If you've had a test century you shouldn't be out edging behind stepping onto the onside.

    It shows fear of fast bowling. A few wickets that fell late on looked like fear of getting forward.

    Shame we only scraped to 400. I expected around the 500 mark. Small (by test standards) ground, beautiful weather, batter friendly surface, first use of the pitch and one of the poorest Cricket test nations.

    As mentioned , Woakes has a home bowling average which is very good … early 20’s I believe.
    It compares with career averages of , say , Cummins and Bumrah so it’s a bit early to ditch him.
    We needed to have some experience without Anderson.

    Bet 365 have the under/over wickets lost for 100 runs at 3.5 at odds of 5/6. Today might be the day the batting holds up as it won't be a comfortable day to bowl in this heat.

    I saw it more of them having a whack with the licence they’ve been given to do so. Woakes played properly and got behind everything ok when he was batting with a more able partner.

    Might well do so though Trent Bridge is a bit of a road of a pitch, with short boundaries and a sunny day the windies batting might do ok.

    I doubt it a tad, but we’ll see.

    A decent side should be scoring 350+ but the Windies look very light on the batting so I can see them being bundled for more like 250.

    Right now it looks a great pitch to bat on. Not sure it's ever easy when Wood is bowling 96mph bombs mind
