In Sir Geoffrey's own words yesterday " this West Indian team is very poor." When I lived in Donny I went to a benefit match on behalf of ex- Yorkshire legend Johnny Wardle who owned the local Fishpond facility just up the road from Hatfield Borstal. A Johnny Wardle Hatfield Town X1 took on a Yorkshire CCC X1. Geoffrey opened the batting and played as though he was at the MCG. He hit a faultless ton in no time at all and Yorkshire declared without loss and then bowled Hatfield out for around 70 runs. Absolutely brilliant to see a tremendous batsman at such close quarters. He know what he's on with does 'ar Geoffrey.!
This West Indies team are the worst side I have ever seen from there! Absolutely poor in every department
I can't remember a bowling "attack" that were so toothless in all my time watching the sport. I watched a passage of play on day one(when the attack should have been at its fittest and sharpest), and they wee almost bowling medium pace chuckdowns. Can you imagine how Andy Roberts or a bit later Courtney Walsh must feel having to watch the shower of ***** that they have brought over?
Really should be over this. Which considering we lost a huge chunk of yesterday to rain is a sad reminder to how poor the opposition is...
It is a real shame for the West Indies the number of quality players that are not playing for the test side. I know they see T20 as the way to set themselves up for life (and the problems with the board), but they have at least an entire team better than this one that can't or won't play test cricket.
