we ran out of money/didn't get back to the Prem meaning we don't even nearly sell out the ground. Other than when Washday come just about everyone in the West Stand could sit in the East if they wanted.
We got planning permission years ago IIRC for a 9000 seat stand. administration, drop in attendances, financial strife have prevented any progress. There was some talk last year of the west stand being perhaps having some sort of sell by date WRT to getting a safety certificate but it was mostly rumour / specualtion
Re: Don Rowing at the end of last season, on Radio Dee Dah, said the cup money was going towards its re-development - and then it all went quiet.
suppose even if we had the money there is little point in many ways, we cant fill what we have so no point making it bigger, and it seems a waste of money to knock it down and make it the same size again
RE: West Stand- leave it alone, it's an insitiution Don't want any of those tubular steel boring look-a-like stands at Oakwell, leave the West Stand as it is. It should have a preservation order slapped on it. I've got so many memories of being there.
After initially indicating support I understand the Council planning dept objected to the plans on 10 counts. Dead in the water, last I heard.
RE: After initially indicating support then again, I could be wrong. To be honest, by the time the West Stand does/if/maybe gets redeveloped, the East Stand will be ready again.
RE: After initially indicating support *cough*

PS gerruz a ticket. Dunno what carib owl et al are doing though. No fcker answers their e-mails anymore.

"just about everyone in the West Stand could sit in the East if they wanted." Well we don't want to thank you.
My view from the West Stand It's an ugly, dated first impression as you approach the club ( those big tin doors, red glossed brickwork and the broken bottles set in the top of the wall don't help). It's dark and dank, it has fire and access issues, the facilities including the toilets are crap - but I sit in it and I still love it!
RE: After initially indicating support will do. On another somewhat depressing note: 33.50 currently.
RE: After initially indicating support Relax. This time next year Rodney...

I'll fire an e-mail off for no reson at all

I'll be in it tomorrow, I was in it when Clint Marcelle scored against Bradford and I was in it when Colin Walker scored against Liverpool. I've been going in the Ponty End recently, but they always put me right down the front (best seats are season tickets apparently), so I think from now on I'll be back home in the West Stand.
View from the West Stand of the other three sides..... ....is, in my opinion, terrific, especially if the other three sides are reasonably populated. The view from the East, however, is depressing. Thousands of empty seats. I am a traditionalist and like old fashioned shaped stands but it doesn't look good when nearly empty. Would be nice to see a relatively modest new stand on that side - single storey for example - curving round at the corners to meet the north and south stands. But where is the money coming from unless some rich company or benefactor stumps up a million or so in exchange for naming rights. I like the old names though - Paddock, Kop, Terrace and Ponte End. Those were the days eh - massive crowds of 2,300 or so....
