Anybody know why we can’t get tickets in west stand I’m trying to use one of my flexis for Luton game??
the hologram they used was very realistic to be fair ,Elvis, Lord Lucan and Shergar in the front row was a novelty touch too, never knew they was Reds fans, thought Shergar was a Derby fan,had Lucan down as a Chelsea man and Elvis might have been a reds fan but only visited once after an incident with a bottle of pop ,spraying over him as they took the top off it, remember someone said he complained it was all shook up
Queen Victoria's health and safety department have had a look at it, and asked the club why something from the 13th century is still in use.
Here we go again west stand bashing , you can ridicule it all you like, you can post false rumours about it being shut & you can slag it till the cows come home but I will take my seat there on tuesday night & there will not be a better view in the ground , hopefully the match will be great & I shall have enjoyed another match sat in the west stand & long may that continue .
Besides any ridicule about the state of the stand, there are a lot of seats in the West stand, and the North stand that the club cannot sell tickets for. At some point, that will have to be addressed.
I've no idea why it is the case to be honest. But had fans been allowed back in, in full, last season, those seats would've been needed.
The ones at the back aren't sold because the club doesn't want the hassle of people complaining about the pillars in view so they just don't sell any of the back seats at all. The rest are all left unsold due to stewarding concerns based on recent historical problems with fan behaviour
Not a west stand hater. Would love it to have been sympathetically renovated but the time for that seems to have gone. It’s time for change.
Give me a lottery win and it's getting taken down piece by piece and rebuilt on the brewery land as a proper fanzone
If you want to touch them to move them that's fine by me but I'm going nowhere near them without a hazmat suit
Disclosure : I like the West stand. But ... this thread is turning into the Karl Pilkington clip where he would rather live in the dump looking at the palace rather than living in the palace and having to look at the dump.
Would prefer it to be renovated but might have to be replaced. the key, in either case, is to introduce standing, so that we 'consumers' have a choice. At the moment - no choice. Poor customer care. Next thing we'll have is a dirty ground, turnstiles not working and a scoreboard not worthy of Grimethorpe MW.
I know absolutely nothing about construction but as the lower tier is concrete and plastic seating, it’s just the upper tier that is wooden floors and seats, could we not sort of take the upper tier off and replace that? Instead of the whole stand. Like I say though, I haven’t a clue about this kind of thing so there could be many things that stop this idea I suppose.
We could but then the lower tier is only 25 years old, there's no heritage there. The ends of the upper tier are only about 3 years old and again no heritage. The TV gantry is about 30 odd years old and has no history and the outer 1/3 on each side of the pitch is also not original to the stand so in essence what you propose is to remove anything original which sort of defeats the object
