    ...so says 'call me Dave'

Putting aside the rights and wrongs on Pleb-gate (although I have read from lots of sources that Mitchell is an arrogant man and a bully) the one thing that stands out for me is that a relatively straightforward case of libel has cost the plaintiff £2m and should he wish to appeal the estimated cost would be an additional £3m.

Arrogant and a bully he may (or may not) be but something is wrong with the legal system if it costs that sort of money when someone tries to defend their name and reputation in law. Not many of us can afford anything like that kind of money and I am pretty sure Mitchell won't either especially as the legal aid availability has been withdrawn for lots of civil actions recently. The biggest robbers in law these days are the barristers and lawyers charging ridiculous hourly rates. Granted there are many years of study and experience required before becoming high paid barrister but are they any more deserving than, say, a surgeon or consultant who, although they are in the higher income bracket, earn nowhere near as much as established barristers.

Ludicrous 'punishment' for the man for what was, let's face it, a 'handbags' confrontation given he has already lost his job, another plod was suspended and one lost his job.
Country is f_cked (unless you are part of the 'establishment')
