... who are in 8th, 9th and 10th. What a crazy, crazy division the Championship is. There seems to be very little to pick between teams at the top and bottom, and to go all Keithy, we should be immensely proud that our club are no worse than teams like Wolves, Bolton and Birmingham considering what they pay their players. Just shows what's possible with determination and belief. Well done Flitcroft and the boys and long may it last.
I was looking through the league table last night and there does appear to be a noticeable gap in quality between the top half and bottom half of the league. With the exception of possibly Blackburn who I think are terrible (Rhodes bailing them out) all of the top half have enough quality in the squad to not worry about being dragged into a relegation fight. I genuinely believe anyone from Leeds downwards could be in trouble. And that includes Leeds in my opinion. As Wolves have proven, it only takes a slump in form and you're looking over your shoulder.
It will certainly be interesting to see how it pans out if the likes of us and Pboro keep picking up points. I reckon it'll probably go right to the wire with 6/7 teams still relegation threatened in the last couple of games. I just can't see Birmingham, Wolves, Ipswich or Hudders doing enough to pull away enough to be comfortable.
I think you're right. We've been 'lucky' enough to turn a bad losing run around due to good management and a team with hearts like lions. Surely we're an exception though, there's a few teams like you've mentioned that have gotten into a rut. Very difficult to turn things around when confidence is low even if you've got some useful players at your disposal. As Posh have proven, there's fine lines in this division. Even with the financial gap between the likes of us and Leicester there's isn't a huge gap in quality like appears in the Prem. With a bit of momentum you can go a long way (Southampton and Norwich being clear examples) I just hope we keep injuries at a minimum and we can keep the workrate at this level with the games coming thick and fast.
My worry also, the intensity that we play at must be hard to maintain when the games come Tuesday/Saturday as they will in the weeks to come. I thought we looked a little jaded at times last night and not our usual energetic selves, but hopefully when Dawson is back, and maybe with a loan signing or two, we can keep things fresh.
I agree, Dawson returning will be a boost. I keep thinking we look jaded, even commented to my old man that Dagnall looked like he'd run his race and could do with a rest. Minutes later he was chasing another lost cause near the corner flag and winning the ball back. The workrate is staggering. Clearly we can't keep that intensity going long term but it's a lot easier when you're winning and enjoying your football. I know we could do with numbers for the run in but I'd be careful not to rock the boat too much, the team spirit is at an all time high wouldn't want to risk denting that.
why not. a few got rested on Saturday for last nights game. I'm not sure how many times we will play with three strikers which will means hopefully that they can be rotated a bit little bit. We've got Reuben, Etuhu and Dawson to come back in over the next 4 week. Not sure about Golbourne and Edwards should be back soon. I wouldn't mind that Jones having a try at right centre back if needed because he looked good in the one game i've seen him. If we want to put someone on the bench we have Rooney who's looking better and the technically very good Clark also to come in if needed.
