Colchester striker Kevin Lisbie insists he will stay with the club amid interest from Burnley and Barnsley - unless the Us want him to leave.
The former Charlton striker, who scored 16 goals last season, still has two years remaining on his contract, but would give serious thought to any move following the club's relegation.
He told the Colchester Gazette: "Right now I'm a Colchester United player and I'm looking forward to kicking-of in the new Weston Homes Community Stadium.
"I can't guarantee anything - If another club comes in for me and the two teams agree a fee, who knows where I could be by the time the season gets under way.
"But it would have to be a southern club because there's no way I would move up north to a Burnley, Hudersfield or Barnsley - I sat down with the manager and chairman at the end of last season and said I would only move to the right southern club because I have no wish to uproot my family."
