What a completely abject performance...

Aside from the first 10 minutes, where I thought we made a bright start. We were totally outplayed, outfought, outclassed...

The goal was again, down to dreadful defending. Have we actually conceded a well worked goal this year???

Souza, who again showed his ever present inconsistency, should've dealt with Parry out on the wing, and the ball should've never gotten across. Once the ball was in the box, we had Darren Moore and Rob Kozluk vs Peter Whittingham. The two clowns in Red managed to clear the ball 3 yards, straight to Whittinghams feet who took time to give himself half a yard, before curling the ball past Steele into the top corner.

From then on, it was simply one way traffic. Cardiff did the basics brilliantly, with McPhail dominating the midfield, bringing the likes of Whittingham, Ledley and McCormack into play and making us look like a set of stuffed dummies. It was embarrassing. We were really at home? Did we really make it to an FA Cup Semi final? Jeez.

The midfield looked clueless. I'll give Colace the benefit, and I don't think he did too bad, but please mate, learn how to cross a ball! JCR did well on his comeback. Howard again, was outclassed by a far superior midfield, and when he did have the ball, looked clueless as to what to do.

Macken/Odejayi - No, just no. I've been the first to stick up for Odejayi in the past, but I'm at the end of my tether. He was woeful last night, and I'm not sure what role Davey asked Macken to play, but he was even worse. Darren Purse had him in his back pocket; winning headers, interception, blocks, tackles. Macken was abject to say the least. In fact, what has he done this season? Not too much.

Hume looked lively, and I'm still not 100% why Davey sought to bring him off, and replace him with Leon, when we were chasing the game with 12 minutes to go. Maybe he was tired? Yeah, maybe.

Overall, I thought we were very poor. Although, saying that - I really don't think we've been much better in any game this season. Cardiff were excellent, they did the basics with ease and made us look very, very amateur.

Although Souza and Moore did well in patches, they've always got a mistake in them, and although a lot of defenders make mistakes - these two just don't have the necessary pace to be able to bail each other out. If we stick with them, I'm not sure we'll survive this season. I'm really not.

Man of the match - Luke Steele (WTF was that 'Muller' chant about?!?! - IF it wasn't for Steele this season, we wouldn't even have 3 points, and we'd have probably conceded a lot more goals).

    Disgruntled. Very, disgruntled.

    Depressing summary Poet!

...but thanks anyway. To be fair to the blokes on Barnsley World they did not pull any punches either. I posted during the game one of their quotes "sort it out Simon!!!" The $64k question is can he??!!

There are times when I really miss Oakwell. Last night was not one of them (N)

Thats a load of *****. He doesn't command is area. He doesn't come for crosses and is to blame for a few goals so far. He made a couple of saves yesterday and thats what hes there for

Lets face it they were all **** last night. It's all true and well blaming Davey but its the players that aren't doing it in the pitch aswell

And i am starting to bake my humble pie as i have stuck up for Davey in the past and had abuse for it on here, but i now have to admit he has lost it. No passion, no emotion, no idea!!

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree - he does need to command his area more. However, that aside, I feel he has done pretty well in recent games. And with a defence like ours, he is left exposed a hell of a lot.

I think Muller is a far superior goalkeeper, but it would be wrong to drop Steele just yet.

Knowing Davey though; both De Silva and Muller may be playing in the next week or so.
