Japanese Baseball superstar has swapped teams in LA for $700m over ten years. He has sportingly agreed to only be paid $2m a year for the 10 years, which will take him to 39 yo, after which he will be paid $68m a year for another 9 years. Imagine retiring, a very wealthy man, at 39, then getting $68m a year!! Suppose it means he won't have to take a B&Q or Deliveroo job.
Probably wise - he'll get a ton of money in endorsements on top of the 2m over the first 10 years anyway.
He's going to dodge Californian income tax on that money - basically about half. Hard to justify that when he'll be earning it while playing there.
Jon Rahms getting £450m with a further £200 over 3 years , just for signing to LIV golf that doesn’t include any possible winnings . Sports gone crazy
