First half, we were immense. Second half showed what a good team Norwich are, ably assisted by a truly dreadful referee. I thought our two goals were excellent, Bradshaw finishing off a flowing team move very well for the first. The second was a Conor special. To quote John Motson from over forty years ago about Tony Currie, "A quality goal from a quality player". As entertaining as our first half display was, I thought the team really dug in during the second half Norwich onslaught. Roberts and MacDonald, especially, were top drawer today. One particular tackle from Roberts was worthy of the top flight. We've bounced back well from the Forest match with two great wins, home & away, against a couple of quality teams. One very proud Red tonight.
Spot on that. They looked strong in the second half because they have Premier League players. The ref was awful. No idea how their players got away with the continual jfoul after the ball on Scowen. Winnall penalised for holding the ball up, yet one minute later our player (Scowen , I think ) is wrestled to the floor. Nothing. Brilliant three points against quality players.
one post tonight says.... first half.......... us good/them crap second half..... us crap/them good looking at some reports it seems we indeed made the most of the first half, but I do not accept we were crap second half.... under the cosh maybe, but I would like to think we were fab in defence second half and not crap. If that's the case then it shows we have learned a good defensive lesson since the Forest game .
Re: one post tonight says.... Other people see things differently. Personally, I think Norwich are a quality team with players of Premier League experience. They played very well in the second half and believe we showed our battling qualities. We won with a group of players most of whom have never played in the Championship before this season. I thought today's game showed we can play attractive, entertaining football as well as anyone in the league and we also showed we can battle it out with the best of them. If others refuse to acknowledge, or appreciate, our players, then it's not my problem.
Can't argue with that. I thought first half that we were exceptional. We moved the ball around very well and played some tidy football against a team who I expected that sort of football from. For as good as we were, Norwich, particularly defensively, we're every bit as bad. We had several chances to extend our lead beyond 2 goals, but that 2nd was ultimately important. 2nd half, Norwich were never going to be as bad as they were in the first. I thought we were a little bit to respectful. We sat much deeper and didn't really have an outlet up front to hold the ball up until Payne's introduction. I'm sure that Hecky wouldn't have wanted to rush him back but we needed that presence up top. We defended sublimely in the 2nd half. We seemed to have a body behind the ball every single time and the two centre halves in particular were fantastic. My man of the match, was Andy Yiadom who I thought was exceptional once again. He is such a cool head and seems to pick out a pass every single time. You really can see why we chased after him for so long. #TeamsLikeBarnsley
I'd have given it to Yiadom, Roberts or MacDonald, but I'm not going to nit pick with Scowen getting it.
mate I was not being derisory I was just trying to say that perhaps we have a far better team than we truly believe. As you well know I simply cannot attend week in week out, so far I have only made two home games and both ended in a defeat..... HOWEVER. I did not leave totally disappointed ...no I went away having seen a team full of potential, full of hope, full of togetherness..... and unlike a lot of other teams in this league we have not thrown a fistful of dollars at it either. We are riding the Barnsley roller coaster once again it dips it soars it throws loops... but at the end of the ride you come off totally exhillerated. I for one would not change a damned thing. In the words of Glady's Knight ... "if we had the chance to do it all again" "tell me would we" "could we" BLOODY DAMN REYT I WOULD apart from you sitting on me all the time
Re: oh and With Becky being so small and petite and the baby was estimated at 7lb 10oz a couple of weeks ago, the hospital have said they may well induce the birth. Hopefully, our granddaughter will make her grand entrance sometime during the week leading up to Christmas.
Another outstanding result and a brilliant first half. Second half, I thought we were woeful in possession. Yes they were good, but we helped them out by constantly giving the ball away and not stringing two passes together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Re: mate I was not being derisory First win for me this season,i think we have a very good team but not sure our system of selling players on for profit is sustainable.

So proud of the lads tonight, shows what team work can achieve. They threw everything at us in the second half ( mostly from the wrong place ) and yet we withstood it all. I love this team, especially Captain Conor. Lovely to hear you're about to be a grandad, what a wonderful Christmas present!
