What a good win for the England cricket team this morning. I defy anyone to say they don't enjoy watching this England team.

Around the time of the away Ashes we were a team that you would call Experienced/ Old and it wasn't working at all. They didn't play good cricket and took a lot of stick. For a little while it was like that after but over the last 12 months things have changed and it's brilliant to see.

Out with the experienced and in with the youth and inexperienced and things have improved. This isn't just in Test cricket either but in ODI and T/20 cricket. Hales Root Butler Bairstow Billings Finn. All players of good age and these will be corner pins of the next 5/10 years.

Anyway. I can only see them improving and becoming World Number one in Test Cricket. I honestly think this team will be better than the 2005 and 2010 teams and they did well, the latter become world number one for a short period.

    They did well.

Although its one test. Lets see how the series goes first.

There's been more false dawns in english cricket that I care to remember.

Very bright. They stuck with Ali and whilst i'd prefer Rashid in the teams hes doing the business and with Stokes they add the required link between batting and bowling that offers the team real death in both elements.

Just need tog get the second opener spot sorted and i'd fancy them against anyone in 12 months time.

Lyth could have another chance If He learned from his mistakes last time...lets see how Hayles gets on..I like Compton, but He's better at 3..Like to see either Bairstow or Buttler up their game behind the stumps..No qualms about their batting, but as a Keeper...jury still out.

    Any way back for Monty?

They need to give Hales a little bit of time. In the ODI's ive liked the look of Jason Roy and think maybe he could open.

Bairstow again needs time. Hes never been given it whilst with England in any format and it's the only way. He's a great striker of the ball espcially leg side but hes also good at switching the strike and that's massive at test level.

Monty, not got a county I don't think so hes not got a chance. Also they've gone past him.

By the end of 2017 latest we will be back to number 1 in the test rankings. After beating Australia we should beat another Dad's Army in South Africa. Our side should be together improving for the best part of the next decade most of them. They are only going to get better. Exciting times.

All this without Kevin Pietersen as well.

South Africa are in disarray at the moment.

    Only messing about KP Phil.

I like Taylor in the middle order. Still not convinced about the opener slot alongside Cook.

A shame that Lyth didn't nail down that opening slot. With time I think he could adapt to Test cricket, but didn't quite do enough to hang on to his place. Great win today, but England are very inconsistent so won't be counting any chickens quite yet...
