Two of the worst teams in the division served up a relative feast of mediocrity which almost sent me to sleep. After the euphoria of the Swindon game it's back down to earth with a bang. Apart from Nardiello, it was the same set of players 'n all. What's happened - do we change the game plan to suit Big Baz - it certainly looks that way. Paul Hayes isn't the same player without NAds alongside him and McPhail was almost invisible. On the plus side Robbie Williams snatched the ball away from Big Baz and McPhail to take the penalty. Hopefully he'll get the job full-time now. Man of the Match was Robbie seemingly for taking the pen. I though Burns had a half-decent game for once and so did Tong, Reid and Carbon. Austin's no footballer and gets skinned too easily for my liking. Still I would have settled for 6 points and 2 clean sheets from our 2 home games prior to the season. Oh and one other thing, we're 1-0 up, playing ***** and there's 3 minutes to go. Waste as much time as possible was the order of the day and they did it well. So why do morons boo and scream for a cross into the penalty area? We never looked like scoring in open play in the first 87 minutes so what makes 'em think we'll score in the last 3. The same fans would have been screaming what a t*sser if Jarman had crossed, keeper pulled it out of the air, wellied it downfield and thet scored an equaliser. Rant over/poo

So our tactic against rubbish like Yeovil is to hold to ball in the corner for as long as possible? Sums us up really - just as well we didn't score in the first 5 mins!

We did right to time waste. Run the bleeding clock down and go home with the points and put the lid on a dull afternoon. How many people were booing because Jarman and William didnt cross. Whats the problem? " running clock down against a team like Yeovil " :S A team that played just as poor as us.

I go to watch us earn 3 points. I couldnt care less about us wasting 3 or so minutes towards the end.
if yeovil had scored in last minuite after a failed barnsley attack you wouldve beeb saying they shouldve kept the ball in the corner. its not nice and its not pretty cos we are a 3rd division team, having to try and scrap our way out this league by and means we can...

Me too there is some miserable people on her sometimes .. If they stoped moaning and got behind em a little perhaps they would enjoy the game more. btw a dee-dah was on the radio earlier moaning about people ringing up and moaning...:S
RE: I'll take the three points every time. Maybe if we were playing a higher division team. But that kind of negativity saw us shot in the foot many a time last season. It's in the nature of the football fan to want better and not to see your team to show tactics that suggest weakness. 3 points are great but that won't work every week. Point being when do we start to put in place the positive play that will create a consistent set of results.
It's called winning a game.... Would you prefer us to go chasing a second, only for Yeovil to break down the other end and equalise?(NOOO)
a simple question?? how many games did we draw last season? how many of those games did the oppsoition score the equaliser in the last 10 minutes?? whichever way you look at it, that probably cost us a play off spot last season. They can do it all they want for me, because all that matters is the 3 points.
Not the best was it, I am puzzled though as to whether anybody from the club watches our opponents play at all. They had 4 pretty big defenders so why did we persist in punting it up the park at almost every opportunity , after 25 mins of creating nothing you would have thought that the players would have realised it wasnt working. I think we managed to string 3 passes together twice in the entire match, and when we did manage to catch them on the break our ability not to play the correct ball was quality. I am happy for Austin that he won us the penalty as he was all at sea in defence , the poor lad is no left back , and until we sign one , I fancy he is gunna be hung out to dry in that position.(NOOO)
