one of the benefits of long-ish drive home on a Saturday afternoon is that I get this out of my system but I'm still hissed of this morning. That was turgid. I thought that the Southampton match was a friendly and yesterday was the same with (I think) some quite skillful ball players in our team, why is plan A still to kick it long, with no plan B. You can sort of understand it when the front two were Macken and KO but when its not, cant we change our game plan to suit JCR's roaming role is detrimental, he wants the ball, usually gets the ball and then brings play to a standstill whilst he shows everyone how clever he is. Any attacking momentum is lost and they were able to get men back. Where was the urgency. Maybe this is the concession that Davey had to make to keep JCR here but I saw glimpses of JCR having a paddy when the ball wasnt played straight to him and its about this time last year when Howard started doing it when they attacked down the left, it was with pace and but for a goal line clearance and a good save, would have given them all 3 points. Our attacking on the other hand was pedestrian and predictable and if that match had gone on for any longer, there would only have been one result and dont get me going on about the officials - they did nothing at all that will give us any excuses - b'stds so another match goes by that on paper we should have won and looking at the fixtures, there arent going to be many more of them and I cant see where the remaining 15 or so points are coming from Ive normally been well an truly on the fence about our manager's tactical ability (what do I know) but it still looks like plan A is to go long and if that doesnt work plan B is to revert to plan A. It starts from the back, all Muller seems to want to do is kick the ball high into the night sky to a pint size striker playing against a 6 foot plus defender we are deep in it now, give JCR a rest give Steele a go and try and play some football FFS!
