Prime Minister John Howard - Australia




Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture.. Since the terrorist attacks onBali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'


'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. John Howard is the EX prime minister of Australia correct, it makes you wonder how accurately the speech was quoted and weather it was taken out of context. Oh, and its a speech he made over 2 years ago, hardly cutting edge stuff.

I was talking about the statement.......... i didnt say it was up to date - it was just a point of view ....... interesting how people say lots of stuff but dont say if they agree with it.... do you?

 

don't matter who agrees or disagrees with it particularly, as its about a country on the other side of the world. Its never going to apply here where different cultures and values apply. If you can't read between the lines and sus out the general opinion of the posts so far then I aint going to enlighten you, life is not always as black n white as yes or no and youre obviously not playing with a full deck. Hang around a while and oakwell will be around to help you out.

 

Does it matter it is 'half way around the world' ??? - it is only a statement that can 'generally' be applied to er.... us!!!! .... think of any excuse you want to avoid analysing the statement but dont blame it on me not 'reading between the lines'.

I agree with Dawkins on this. Why should religion of any type (and that includes Christianity and Islam) be tiptoed around and not have its flaws pointed out? What makes religious beliefs so special? If someone is staunchly left- or right-wing people would be able to rightly and freely argue with them. So why not religious types?
I'd be annoyed with Howard (not Brian, obviously. I don't reckon he has any particularly strong opinions on this subject) for blurring the boundary between politics and religion in this way.

That's just as well then seeing that Muslims also believe in God, as well as Jews and Christians etc.
