yesterday and today has seen the start ogf the end of Barnsley Football club.....hope you are a proud man tonight Gordon.
Certainly seems that way. It is an unavoidable reality that relegation could fold our club up. It doesn't matter what survival in this division costs - it can't be as much as relegation.
FFS - lets get a proper manager, and sign some quality players. Thisreally isbeingrun on the cheap like a pub side.

Re: what a tremandous start....into the bottm 3....ladies and Gents WE ARE GOING DOWN .. and also u £3????
The only way we'll stay up is if Davey goes... Along with Shepherd. Unless we sign Man Utd's team. Even then, I'm not sure Davey could motivate them.
RE: Certainly seems that way. It is an unavoidable reality that relegation could fold our club up. Looking at the table, the teams below picking up points, leeds, Hull, we are odds-on favs to be relegated. We now need massive investment. Bring someone in who has money to spend, that's the only way. Because Shep is so reluctant to spend, to keep the books right. That when we are in the 1st division he will still be counting the pennies. I'm so pis*ed of that i've lost intrest. (N)
Long term down turn in fortunes and steady irreversible decline into the bottom tier. The gates will collapse - looking at 5,000/6,000 home fans. Better players will leave, probably on bosmans(and lets face it, we don't have anyone that you'd actually come to watch as it is). Club would look to stablise in a division nobody is interested in coming to watch, and would therefore struggle even more to attract the fans and balance the books. Less sponsorship, less media interest, less meaningful derby games. A generation of fans growing up buying Man U and Chelsea shirts because they refuse to buy into the ***** we're already emotionally attached to. I could see us getting relegated from the first division in time and eventually becoming a team which only gets a mention on the vidiprinter. People will stop caring.
We have to make a decision. Once we were fighting a battle to stay in the Prem, and with all the odds against us, we fought harder than we are now fighting. Now we are slipping into an abyss that threatens the future of the club entirely. Do we slip away making silly decisions and appointments? Or do we throw our lot in, show we've got some balls at Oakwell, roll our sleeves up, anddo what has to be done?
This bizarre appointment of Davey is ridiculous. Let'sget a proper manager, withgenuine experience and knowledge, and let's sign some genuine quality (that he has identified and chosen), and lets stop pricking about like a pub team trying to get relegated.

Is relegation really acceptible to you? It isn't to most. The message is already out: Barnsley F.C. are back to doing things on the cheap. Don't bothergoing to Oakwell, it's not worth bothering with.
RE: Is relegation really acceptible to you? It isn't to most. it isn't acceptable, I was only questioning the statement fold normally means go into liquidation and I don't think that would happen.
well put it this way..... just what do you think the gates will be in league 1 next season...we wil struggle to make 5k...this will mean leser quality and as that sets in the gates go down further....the upkeep of the stadium and existing bills will get more telling...eventually we drop yet another league..the gates etc go down...the vortex is inexorable....back in admin and finally oblivion inside 5 years IMHO
exactly, it's a genuine threat. I'll be honest - if we get relegated, I'll still keep an eye on our scores, but I just won't go to a single match and I won't buy a shirt. At least I seriously doubt it. I've got a young family, and the money would be better invested elsewhere, I simply haven't got money to give away. There are countless others like me. On ther other hand, if the club digs in and makes the investment I will be going to matches, and as my son starts to grow, I'll take him along as well, no doubt buying us both shirts along the way, and the other merchandise/programmes as well. They have to decide if they want to keep people interested - because without public support, the club will die.
RE: what a tremandous start....into the bottm 3....ladies and Gents WE ARE GOING DOWN .. and also u were we ever going to beat wolves away? at home against them we produced our best performance of the season and still only scraped a win, give davey a chance, see what signings we make in january, and as for gs, would we have a club now if it wasn't for him & pc? i think not, we're not a promotion contender or a premier league side anymore, i'll settle for 4th bottom
