Well im out of hospital .spent my 59th birthday on st paddys day wondering if id ever get out..5 TIAs in 16 days...apart from paralysis in my right eye which causes me now to see double when i open both eyes, problems with my speech and balance ive got of light compared to some ive seen these past days. Id like to thank everyone for their best wishes and concern. This past 16 days have been an eye opener...pardon the pun....i have drawn inspiration from a set of guys who were fighting their own battles in the wards ive been on ....lez..who for 3days just laid there shaking and mumbling, to attempting to stand the moment they sat him in a chair even though it was impossible for him to do so To john who at the grand old age of 85 just wanted to get home and take care of his wife who was in the early on set of dementia and his disabled daughter even though he wasnt well himself Kirk who knew he hadnt long to live and was on pallative care Stewart whos own battle was similar to mine And not forgetting jack whos stories of old kept my spirits up when i was feeling sorry for myself and his calming infulence when i got frustrated about the situation i found myself in. Like ive said ....ive got away lightly although theres a long road to walk before im back to full recovery ...but i will get there....in time.... One thing is certain ...i wont make the team bus for Wembley...unfortunately im not well enough to travel....the club have refunded my tickets so a big thank you BFC. Id also like everyone to know what a brilliant job all the nursing staff have done looking after me, those lads and lasses across all 3 wards AMU Stroke ( 23 ) and medical 31...are a credit to their profession ...i will forever owe you a debt of gratitude... Like the title says ......what a tw#t.maybe iam....lol...but youre not getting rid of me just yet...... Once again a massive big thank you to all
Get well soon mate. Wishing you a speedy recovery as poss. Ward 23 stroke team at barnsley are legends and rightly renowned as one of the country's best. It's been 4 months since my stroke, nothing's the same or back to normal and it feels this is as good as it will get. Kick-boxing and bungee-jumping are out, but I've been to a couple of football matches and am going to wembley. They all say 'it takes time', but it's true. Wishing you all the best.
Thank you for the update, mate. It's good to hear of your steady progress. Having a stroke certainly hasn't affected your sense of humour, nor Mr C's, and it's great to see.
God thara whinging get Bri :-D, seriously good to hear you're home and on the mend pal, see my earlier post, also it makes you realise how lucky we are when all we've got to whinge about is football especially when you hear about what other folk are dealing with
Get well soon, Bri. But I have to say I'm a little bit worried about the amount of BBS'ers having strokes and heart attacks in the last year. There's a common denominator. But seriously pal, glad to hear you're on the mend. Me and Roy will have a pint for you at Wembley.
