Fifa vice-president Jack Warner said he will battle to stop England hosting the 2018 World Cup"If the World Cup were to go to Europe, I'm quite sure, with the English luck as it is, they won't get it," Warner told BBC World Service. "There are moves to give it to England. I must fight that."
Warner, a member of the world football body's executive committee since 1983, added: "It will be Italy, Spain, or even France who will get the World Cup if it goes to Europe. "Nobody in Europe likes England. England invented the sport but has never had made any impact on world football."
No impact, quater finals and semis say we've made more of an impact than most. Champions league finalists 3 out of last 4.
This guy has a chip on his shoulder so big he could almost be a tarn supporter (blagger)

RE: fifas full of ******* nt So true..... FIFA have always had an anti-English stance! Why not hold the World Cup in Turkey cos they're right up the Turks' arseholes!! And surely we have more than an entitlement to host the World Cup than France, Spain and Italy? They hosted the tournament in 1998, 1982 and 1990 respectively.
This is not the first time we've seen blatant anti-English sentiment from footballing top-brass. Last year Platini (is he Uefa or Fifa?) was shooting his mouth off saying English club teams are getting too successful and should be limited to just a few entries in the Champions League. It was incredible, reading his tirade. Not the comments of a stable balanced individual.
You are right Imagine if an English official had made the same comments but substitue say Mexico and America for England and Europe and there would (rightly) be an uproar
I agree with Platini on that one Why should the 2nd, 3rd or 4th English team play in the CHAMPIONS League before the CHAMPIONS of another countrys league. The CL should be made up of all the champions of europe and then the spare places made up of the 2nd placed teams. Otherwise its just another case of the rich getting richer as seems to be the way in football.
But was he saying it should just be the cahmpions... Or was he singling England out because we keep getting teams in the semi finals? I can't remember exactly what he said now to be honest.
RE: I agree with Platini on that one Yes but the extra places have been earned as per the qualifying rules. I sympathise with your ideals but the countries in question simply aren't on a par. Lambs to the slaughter. They do have the chance to qualify though, don't they?
