I know I'll probably get shot down as he's playing in the A League, but I've had a chat to him and he would love a move to the Championship.

    Archie Thompson

    Age: 29
    Height: 1.74m
    Playing Position: Striker

Played in Australia prior to 2001, then signed for Belgium's Lierse SK. Returned to sign for Melbourne Victory in 2005

Lierse SK: 27 goals (90 appearances)
Melbourne Victory: 28 goals (54 appearances)

    Goal Scoring Records:

He set the world record for goals scored in an international match on April 11, 2001, when Australia played American Samoa in Coffs Harbour in a qualifier for the 2002 World Cup. Australia won 31-0 (the score was originally reported as 32-0 as the scorekeepers lost count). Thompson, who was not Australia's first choice striker, scored 13 of the Australian goals.

He starred in the 2007 A-League Grand Final on February 18, 2007, scoring 5 goals and helping Melbourne Victory to a 6-0 thrashing of rivals Adelaide United. In becoming the first player to score more than 3 goals in an A-League match, Thompson exceeded his own expectations, predicting before the game that he would get a hat trick. For his efforts, Thompson was awarded the Joe Marston Medal as the Man of the Match.

Does he believe he's good enough for the championship?

Has he been linked with any other clubs i the last 6 months?

    1.74m, that's quite tall isn't it?

174 centimeters = 5 foot 7. Same as Keigan Parker.

He said his ambition has always been to get to England although understands that he wouldn't be able to walk into the starting 11 of a Premiership team. He believes he'd be more than handy in the Championship.

He went out on loan to PSV Eindhoven while Guus Hiddink was in charge, as a lead up to the World Cup, with a view to a permanent deal. But Hiddink left and the deal fell through.

No official links in the last six months but the rumour mill here is nothing like the UK. You don't seem to hear about anything until it's already happened, football is still a growing sport down under and is well behind cricket in the general public's mind during the Summer, when the A League is played.

    Height is about 5'9"

Doesn't sound like a bad shout, especially with the PSV link.

Unfortunate thing is everyone on this board could name a player that they think we should sign, but the only man who can do is Mr Davey, and I've still got faith in the players he has signed, and the players he will sign this month.

I believe KO, The Fox, and Christiansen have a ot of football left in the season.
