Right - let's get this out of the way. Yes, I know - we never thought we'd be 6th at this stage of the season.

But we are - and we are chucking it away.

At half time I honestly thought that, at one goal up and with the wind and sun at our backs we would tear Chesterfield apart in the second half. With all relevant results going our way the time was right to come back with a vengeance.

What a false chuffing hope that was.

Missed chances, thrown away sitters, poor finishing, passing to empty spaces, hoofing high balls into a wind that continually dictated where the ball would land, high balls to short blokes who had no hope of winning them, fancy flicks and footwork that wasn't needed, and a body language in the last 30 minutes that suggested a kick about on the local rec, all contributed to throwing away yet another golden opportunity.

I do not condone jeering and booing your side at full time, and those that did, did neither themselves nor the team any favours. One thing that stood out again today was an apparent lack of leadership on the field. We have no bite and we lack the killer instinct, two very important requirements for success. Until somebody is seen to be barking out the commands and running the team we will continue to play without effect or teeth.

Now - I have absolutely no expectations of finishing in the top six. But if we do, does anybody sincerely believe that in a four way dogfight, where no quarter is given and none expected, we have the collective balls to get past the first leg, never mind the second?

No we haven't - and it's a crying shame, because we did have, and we could have. And until we tidy up our act it ain't gonna happen.

Sambora does, he was still their at 6 o clock jeering and booing the team because we got back into the playoffs.
