Where do you want to start mate?
Or how long do you want to wait? I've got a bit of insider info on a church conversion in an area that can only go up for you if you like. Also the old Klondyke area on Burton Rd, Monk Bretton is set to take a bump in values when the development opposite and the new road are completed. there are still one or two properties there ripe for gutting.

RE: Where do you want to start mate? I have always looked at safe bets like Penistone and the like and the recent new developments in that area. Do you consider there is still mileage in older properties in Barnsley Windy?
Definitely.
But I don't think now's the time. Interest rate changes are set to cause a bit of a slump and rents might not cover mortgage payments.

RE: Only Problems with Penistone !!! I live in Penistone and have done since 1985. Before that I lived in Crowedge, where I was born, for 20 years. Never have I classed myself as coming from Sheffield.
I'm Barnsley through and through.
Oh!, and there are too many new developments in Penistone now. It's nice to see people wanting to live here but if they all bring their kids where are they going to get educated? There aren't enough school places to accomodate them. Springvale school is undergoing an extension at the moment but even with that, it won't be big enough.

RE: a couple of things Oooooh! You'll really annoy anyone from Morley saying that! They don't like it you know!
Penistone is a district of Barnsley Metropolitan Bourough Council And so is Bolton on Dearne (even though some folk on here think this is Rotherham)
'Up and coming areas'........and..........'in Barnsley'..... Do not belong in the same sentence There's a bit of so called money in the Silkstone Cawthorne area, but these villages are up ont hills where its cold and wet Rest of us that lives darn int bottoms, ant got Nowt. I would say the village that has picked up most in recent years and seen some vast improvements is Little Houghton Only problem with Little Houghton is you have to drive through Middlecliffe to get to it
ive just bought a new house in penistone reckon its a fairly safe bet for the property to keep its value and slowly rise but don't think you could make loads there because prices are fairly steep for what you get already if you see what i mean - new build 3 bed townhouse 180-190k
If the coucil has its way there will be an extra 14,000 houses built in the ward (Denby Dale, Skelmanthorpe, Emley, Clayton West, Scissett and the Cumberworths) in the next 12 years. A New Town with no infrastructure. Clever stuff by our friends down in London and their cohorts in Hudderfsield.
