A 19 year old with just 12 mins of first team football goes to Chelsea for £1.5m http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16852847 Interesting though to compare this with Vaz Te, as this lad was also out of contract at end of season.
How long had he had an agent, just pushing for a move to get him a pay day? It's a joke, these pariah's need getting shut of.
Very true. If Vaz Te had come through our youth system we might have kept him until the summer and got more at a tribunal. But then a player is only worth what a club is willing to pay. I can't see for example Arsenal raiding us for our kids in big money transfers like they have done a few times at Southampton.
It does make you think thought - there is a simple way to protect the smaller clubs.... simply push up the transfer fees decided at tribunal's and push up the age at which they apply. Also you could make a formula to calculate the fee, including things like; time at club, current salary, offered salary (current club & future club and include all add ins), length of offered contract - remove the emotion from the equation so to speak. Add in an inflation factor and jobs a good 'un. Of course it will never happen as the big clubs would lose out so they would oppose it or some agent would take it to the court of human rights.
