What constitutes a "clean" driving license?

    <div>For example - If you had, say, 3 points put on 5 years ago, and nothing since, is that a clean license?</div><div>If they are still on there, can you say your license is now clean, or is it only clean when you buy a new one.</div><div>In other words, will a license with old points on always be a mucky one, so to speak?</div>

    i would say if points no longer valid then

    it's clean, but then with mine i would wouldnt i, still got 3 points on :eek:

    As far as insurance goes

    Over 5 years old points dont count anymore. I think the same for anyone requesting a clean licence for a job. (Drink doesnt expire after 5 years though)
    If you want a squeeky clean one - I dont know what benefit it gives you though, you can only get that by paying the DVLA to take your points off - or if you are lucky enough to move house they get removed when the address is changed. Strangeley the DVLA havent figured out charging you twice yet
