Does anyone know/have a good idea of our players' hi/low/average weekly salaries? The club will obviously not divulge this, but you often see the top clubs' wagebills mentioned in the press. I'd have thought Sam/Conor/Adam/Aidy would be among our higher earners, and I've heard that LJ helped reduce our overall wagebill to c.£2M. My guess would be that the highest earners would be on maybe 3K per week, and the lesser ones on about 1K. But I'm only guessing. Anyone have a more informed idea?
Ive heard max 2k a week apart from Hammil and the players agreed to break the wage structure because of how important he was for the team. Ive no idea if this is true at all though
probably too much! That's not a pop at our team btw, I just think footballs generally fked and players wages over the years have grown way out of proportion, to the extent too many clubs are strapped for cash and a lot of fans that can't really afford it are asked to pay ever higher ticket prices.
I'd say £2k per week sounds about right but third division footballers on over £100k per year. WTF!!!
I know in the Championship we were paying anything from £2.5k to £6k per week. Now it'll be closer to £2k per week as the average with the odd exception.
If that is true then think we should enjoy watching Hourihane, Winnall, Bree, Mawson, Scowen, Watkins and Brownhill this season. Champ clubs could wave £5-10k a week at them just to be squad players. And who wouldn't want to make 5 times their salary in such a short profession. Let's hope we do get the stones sell on, invest it in our current squad and try and get out of this quagmire of a league!
I know for a fact that a certain defender was on 12K a month when we were in the Championship. I can only imagine that the average now is much less than that.
