Having flown back from Malaga yesterday lunchtime I can see the attraction of a few days training in the warm weather down there. Not hot, just warm glorious sunshine. Could be the ideal tonic for them, bit more team bonding etc. Maybe they will get a practice match against Malaga, although that seems unlikely seeing as they are flying high in La Liga, only just behind top teams. Let's hope they come back refreshed and fired up for Bolton on Saturday which is now going to be a REALLY difficult game. They were struggling a few weeks ago but not now. Might be a race for which supersub scores first - Scotland or C Davies!
If they see us playing and sense the team spirit it might attract a few of the La Liga players to our team......now where's Messi hanging about this week
bad Idea for many reasons. 1. Only taking some players will be terrible for team building and morale. It really does say to some players 'I don't want you' and must make them feel terrible. It also creates cliques within the club. 2. We are constantly talking about being strapped for cash. We have an excellent training facility behind the north stand yet we're ignoring that and going to spain instead. Pissing money away aren't we. How many fans will need to turn up on saturday to pay for this training? At £20 a ticket I reckon we're taking a few hundred fans to cover it. 3. We went on a fantastic fitness training camp abroad before the season started with the club telling everyone just how fit the players would be. We have since had a lot of injuries and a lot of injuries that seem to last a lot longer than usual. We've also seen players looking knackered after 45 minutes. Proof in my eyes that it simply doesn't work.
If we win on Setdi it will have been a brilliant idea. If we lose then, "That's what you get when you spend your time jetting off to Spain." Personally I don't give a ****, and I don't think it'll make any difference one way or the other to how we perform for the rest of the season.
on a medical point we lack vitamin D during winter lack of sunshine ,daylight hours ect. having a week there tops your vitamin D levels up ...increases energy levels Measures of serum levels reflect endogenous synthesis from exposure to sunlight as well as intake from the diet, and it is believed that synthesis may contribute generally to the maintenance of adequate serum concentrations. The evidence indicates that the synthesis of vitamin D from sun exposure works in a feedback loop that prevents toxicity but, because of uncertainty about the cancer risk from sunlight, no recommendations are issued by the Institute of Medicine, USA, for the amount of sun exposure required to meet vitamin D requirements. Accordingly, the Dietary Reference Intakes for vitamin D assume that no synthesis occurs and that all of a person's vitamin D is from their diet, although that will rarely occur in practice. In the liver vitamin D is converted to calcidiol, which is also known as calcifediol (INN), 25-hydroxycholecalciferol, or 25-hydroxyvitamin D—abbreviated 25(OH)D; and which is the specific vitamin D metabolite that is measured in serum to determine a person's vitamin D status.[2][3] Part of the calcidiol is converted by the kidneys to calcitriol, the biologically active form of vitamin D.[4] Calcitriol circulates as a hormone in the blood, regulating the concentration of calcium and phosphate in the bloodstream and promoting the healthy growth and remodeling of bone. Calcidiol is also converted to calcitriol outside of the kidneys for other purposes, such as the proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis of cells; calcitriol also affects neuromuscular function and inflammation.[5] Beyond its use to prevent osteomalacia or rickets or in other words effect muscular function and inflamation .and bone growth ...result a fitter team...
Don't see anything wrong with it I doubt they'll be doing any strenuous training. Also, quite frankly, after seeing the commitment & togetherness shown by the players and management since David Flitcroft took over, there's no need for any team building or bonding whatsoever.
I'm just guessing here But I think there's a distinct possibility you don't rate Jim McNulty all that highly!
