What do we know about new Bristol city target Alfie Mawson

If you read the Bristol Post he's in for at least 19 of our players this summer. Probably put in a cheeky bid for Patrick Cryne too.

There is a typo in the valuation figure. One of the zeros would appear to have gone walkabouts.

 

The 22-year-old former Brentford player has two years left on his contract at Oakwell and is valued at around £500,000.

Plus the lovely person tax for "LJ" means he'll have to pay at least 10m

 

Not chance of him going for £500,000 unless there's some daft clause in his contract.

They apparently want Mawson, Hammill and Bronwhill. Can't help but think their media is just making stuff up.

 

Hopefully so. We were linked with a fair few from Oldham, when Johnson came in. Don't think we actually signed any, did we?

Think its very lazy journalism in the main. Consider the Star and the trolled stories they come up with.

Having said that, (and this is just my perception) I don't think Johnson did himself any favours while he was here with the players. Yes our form picked up while he was still here, but we didnt have unity like we do now and he was the one that scared them to death and brought such fear and doubt into their play.

If we're in the same division next yet i'd expect them to stay. if not, I think they'd favour most other clubs rather than playing for Johnson again. If you recall, we were linked with a few Oldham players and none of them panned out.

 

Always linked with Liam Kelly as well. Can't help but think the press just look at the pervious manager's club and see which player played under them.

 

Hammill has no real link with LJ, he came because of the club not the manager. Mawson seems too bright to truly believe that could be a notch up the ladder in the long term. Winnalls been linked in the past aswell, I'd say there'd be no chance of him ever playing for LJ again after the way he was treated. Brownhill may go to them but id say he's the only one likely to.

It's easy headlines. There's no evidence he's after any of our players.

I remember when Pochettino was going to take half of the Southampton squad to Spurs with him & when Johnson himself was going to bring a load of Oldham players with him.

 

Mawson was one of his players and he's always looked the most likely of all our squad to maybe go there. It's no different to us signing players from lower down the football pyramid or a manager for us like Keef signing players he's used to. Hopefully we get promoted and he signs a contract extension on the better wages we'd be able to offer him. But whilst i'm not sure he'd go there, if we don't get promoted it would be a bloody miracle to have him still playing for us next season.

 

If we get promoted it would be a sideways move for Alfie . Who the chuff do they and Vern think they are ? , chuffin Barcelona or summat . They're no bigger than us and their owner , although he is proper loaded, I am lead to believe he has slighly less tolerance than Patrick when it comes to losing football games . Plenty of time with the family around Christmas LJ .

 

I suspect we value him at between 2m and 2.5m with a significant sell on clause.
