I admit im not a big Davey fan, but he has kept us up for 3 seasons on the trot.
Looking at the size and budget of clubs in our division, and also the size of those potentialy getting relegated, also the ones promoted,
where do we realisticaly expect to be?
I think we have some decent players, and although i do question his tactics and get frustrated, it is much more of an improvement than old times

If we do get a new manager how do we know he wont be an idiot (Parkin, Hart etc)

So all in all i will settle for Simon keeping us up and hope with a few decent signings we can improve
I think we all need to be realistic, if we had got relegated then yes he should have gone

I don't expect much difference in league position.

I expect a more positive approach to the games, however. It's the negativity, particularly away, which gets on my nerves.

Players playing out of position, poor decisions, lack of motivation, **** formations, defensive football. I see no reason to suggest that he will change that much over the summer.

To be fair though mate a lot of people said we would definately be in League one next season if we didn't sack Davey and that hasn't proved to be the case

I genuiney hope he proves me and lots of other fans wrong, I really do but I haven't seem much to suggest he can take us forward and we cant keep relying on there being three worse teams than us to stay up. OK so we finished above Plymouth as well but should we have finished 5th from bottom? I want progress not miracles; mid table would be a great start but how long do we have to wait for some progress.

I agree mate and he shouldn't be given forever, maybe not even next season. However, I don't think we are a million miles away from where we want to be. I admit its all ifs, but things like Hume being fit all year would have made a difference. Colace being available from the start of the season. De silva not having to go home for a berevement. Similarly, if late goals hadn't gone in. Some of those thing s were davey's fault but some weren't. He may also improve with experience and I think just as players can have bad seasons, i think it was probaly his worst in charge last year. Do you think we were a million miles away from achieving mid table?

If Donny can nearly finish in the top half...

It shows how 'good' this division really is.

Their squad is nowhere near as talented as ours.

you could be so right Journo but on the other side of the coin the reds are not as talented has Liverpool or Chelsea but, we did beat them. I think you're being a little unfair where DRFC are concernd because I understand O'Driscoll to have has done a very good job with limited resources far inferior to ours. On the otherhand Davey appears to have wasted may hundreds of thousands of pounds buying such players as Mossto and Christianson for example and I'm sure there are others. I would be scared **** that if he stays, P.C. might give him a couple of million to rebuild. Indeed, more concernd if he signs mifsud, based upon what the player has proven (not). Should P.C give him the go ahead and Davey buys in the same vein he did last season then we are garaunteed that a couple of the new players will turn out to be duds, Proving that he has'nt learnd anything.Time will be the judge. The debate on whether or not he has the ability to attract new quality blood will continue to rage.

Not a great deal has been said about Oddjob but I suspect Davey will continue to find a role for him even if only to prove himself right. I don't trust Davey and I suspect that his thinking is out of sinc with what is expected of a football manager. This is just my personal view but I do hope when P.C. re interviews the man indepth questioning about the way he appears to disrespct the fan base and his alleged falling out with players is high up on the agenda.

I expect from Davey a degree of common sense to be applied to his efforts of man management combined with as much transparency, as is possible, with the fan base.

we all know staying up is not our primary aim

but as a minimum if things do go belly up injuries ect, our main aim is to move up the league and push the top half of the table! Compared to Parkin and Hart SD is a god!

Interesting listening to PC comments about winning the fans over as using Gary Megson as an example he still gets abuse from Bolton fans and they do not like hiom despite their comfortable league position. I personally think this will never happen as SD has never been a popular choice, even if we won promotion to the prem I still think he would not win the fans over!

    Davey has some disadvantages here

His relative youth, inexperience and anonymity mean that he doesn't automatically command respect and doesn't necessarily have the confidence to properly address the fans. I really think folk need to cut him some slack there. Yes, grumble about substitutions and tactics but take into account the fact that he is probably a fairly shy bloke doing a locally high profile job when judging his public relations. Putting myself in his shoes I think I'd make him look like Gregarious Gary in the popular stakes.
