Andy Morrell? Released by Coventry - seems a decent player when I've seen him.

    Really?

    From sportnetwork.net:

Rumours are currently running rampent that transfer listed Coventry City striker Andy Morrell is in talks with Southend manager Steve Tilson the Coventry Evening Telegraph reports the following

Transfer Listed Coventry City striker Andy Morrell could be on his way to League One champions Southend United. The 31-year-old is wanted by Shrimpers' boss Steve Tilson as he looks to strengthen his side as he prepares for Championship football next season. Morrell, who has a year left at the Ricoh Arena if he wants it, has spoken to the Essex club and the only sticking point would appear to be whether he is prepared to uproot his family, his wife having recently given birth to their first child, Harrison. However, in terms of his career, Roots Hall would appear a good move where he has the chance to partner exciting striker Fredy Eastwood whose 49 goals in 70 games have helped the club gain promotion in successive seasons. Former Sky Blues forward Shaun Goater notched 11 goals for them this season but has retired, leaving a new striker as a priority. Walsall have also been reportedly interested in Morrell's services but, while the location may be more suitable, a drop down to League Two would not appear to hold such a great appeal. The player also has the option of staying on at City if he chooses. Despite being made available for transfer, he has also been told he is welcome back for pre-season training is nothing takes his fancy.

If he is to sign with Southend remains to be seen to keep checking back for all the latest updates on this situation as it develops.

Wasn't he at Wrexham before Coventry,I seem to remember Glyn Hodges after him.

He's 32 now and didn't do so brilliantly for Coventry

He was one of their best players but didn't have a great season this time.
