"This man really is a joke and you know the FA Know it the refs association know everyone Knows it."

"This was quite simply THE WORST EVER PERFORMANCE by a referee witnessed in my years involved in football. This man has got to have a good lond look at himself after this disgraceful display. There is no place in football for this. In my opinion he should have been arrested for entering the playing field. Any other thug/hooligan/streaker would have.
He must be removed from the list."

"this referee was the worst i have ever seen in my life, stopped the game every minute

8 bookings, 3 sending offs, sent the manager off, it wasn't even a dirty game"
    mearesl 19-11-2005 @ 20:41

"An absolute disgrace today! Mr. Kettle was incompetent he has ruined a local derby with his use of cards and inconsistent decisions. The worst tackle of the game went unpunished yet he cautioned - I guess 7 players and sent two off for innocuous offences (1 more after the final whistle, probably for disent) The lino gave the Barnsley goal which we thought did not cross the line!
Mr Kettle should be re-assessed then demoted to class 3 - sunday league!"

"HE SHOULD NEVER REF A MATCH AGAIN"
    THE MILLER 19-11-2005 @ 21:24

"The worst reffing performance since 1997 in my view. Made a rod for his own back with 5 yellow cards before half time. He lost control of a local Derby which barely had a tackle to remember. 10 yellow cards, 3 sendings off (4 if you include Rotherham's manager) - he ultimately finished my team off with a debateable 'over the line' decision in the 95th minute. Mick Harford will undoubtedly be severely censured for his post match comments. Shame cos he was merely summing up every Rotherham fan's feelings this evening.

An appalling performance from a so called 'referee' who should stick to flower arranging. He should never ref a professional match again."
    Rouger 19-11-2005 @ 22:58

"Should never be allowed to referee another professional game!!!"
    1988ib 19-11-2005 @ 23:19

    "incompetent"
    liddy 20-11-2005 @ 09:46

"A potentially good game of football completely and utterly ruined by total, incomprehensible incompetence. In 30 years of watching football I cannot ever remember feeling so totally cheated!!!!!"
    S8_Miller 20-11-2005 @ 11:05

"Is an utter discrase to fellow refs. Played 95mins and when Barnsley scored from a corner he was stood on penalty spot and didnt give it, he then looked at linesman who gave it and changed his mind!

Should never ref again and his family must be very proud NOT!!!!!!!!"
    keetsmiller 20-11-2005 @ 11:14

"utter utter garbage, he should never be able to ref again"
    alancoops 20-11-2005 @ 11:19

"Worst refereeing I have ever seen in 30 years of watching football"
    No1Miller 20-11-2005 @ 11:28

"mr kettle is by far the worst ref I have ever seen at a football match.
He was inconsistant throughout the match and more than willing to give out yellow cards and red cards ,in most cases he never gave warnings before issuing cards to any rotherham players. On the otherhand he gave plenty of warnings to barnsley but not so card happy to them.
In what was for both sides was a local derby game he spoilt what would have been a very entertaining match, that would have been played in a competetive manner from both teams ,not may I add a dirty game from both sides .
I feel if this is the new standard of refereeing then I for one will be thinking twice about going to see football matches again as, mr kettle will do nothing to promote our national sport but the opposite of keeping fans away due to his inept and biast performances today."
    decca miller 20-11-2005 @ 11:40

"absoloute discrace should be struck of this list, not fit to ref a pub leauge cause he would prob get lynched."
    miller4life 20-11-2005 @ 12:34

    "totally bias toward barnsley
gave a goal which lots of barnsley fans believed not to be over the line
sent off 2 rotherham players in the match the 1 after and also sent of the amnager

    he was a total joke"
    chrisibbotson 20-11-2005 @ 13:28

"Watched football from 1968-1980. Only been going to games again since 2003 and knowing there are incompetent people like him in powers of authority depresses me considerably. He ruined a generally clean game. Gandhi would've orchestrated a pitch invasion if he was alive!"
    Englishmiller 20-11-2005 @ 15:03

"He was an absolute disgrace, has obviously never played the game in his life. id sack him immediately, and never allow him to referee any level again.
    a true disgrace."
    tommy_5 20-11-2005 @ 16:01

"WOW where to start? Mr Kettle is the worst referee I have even seen, and trust me we've seen some at Rotherham. This man need to be sacked NOW before he has the chance to do to other teams what he did to us yesterday.
    DISPICABLE"
    mentalmiller 20-11-2005 @ 16:24

"The referee was totally inept,I asked Barnsley fans for their opinion and all agreed that the ref had totally lost the plot.Ive watched Rotherham United for over 45years and this was by far the worst performance I've ever seen by an official. He should resign from the refs list and let someone else do the job of which he is incapable of doing."
    shytalk 20-11-2005 @ 16:24

"An absolute disgrace! Feeel sorry for mick harford, this ref could lose him his job! I HOPE UR HAPPY MR KETTLE!!!

    FUMIN!"
    BezzTheMiller 20-11-2005 @ 21:05

"Worst referee i have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He should be kicked out of football and never allowed to referee again."
    mighty_milleress 21-11-2005 @ 00:30

"I have played & watched football for 45 years & without doubt this was the most inept refereeing I have ever seen either professionally or in amateur games. There was hardly a bad tackle in the game yet he managed to find too many yellow cards to count & four sending offs. In addition he found 5 minutes of injury time from nowhere & compounded everything by allowing a Barnsley equaliser in the 94th minute when the ball never crossed the line. The only thing boiling with this Kettle on was my blood !"
    ishi 21-11-2005 @ 00:48

"an absolute joke. should never be allowed to referee again!!
    cost us the win!!"

"This was the worst referee EVER!!! Should be struck off the list with immediate effect!"
    pukkamatt 21-11-2005 @ 19:20

"Just like to say well done Mick Harford for having the guts to say what he and all the 10,000 crowd feels about an absolutely disgraceful refereeing performance from a certain Mr Trevor Kettle on rotherhams official website.

Yes, he will probably get fined for it as usual because football authorities would rather wrap idiots like this up in cotton wool rather than actually takle the underlying problem which is simple: this excuse of a referee should not be refereeing at any level as Harford correctly said.

What he did today was inexcusible and HE is the one who should be fined for what I would describe as the worst refereeing performance I have ever witnessed. I accept that being a referee is a hard profession but there was no excuse for what went on today, his antics directly influenced the result of the match and that quite frankly that is not good enough. Even the Barnsley fans on BBC Radio Sheffield mentioned how shocking his performance was.

How on earth did he manage to book 10 players and send 3 Rotherham players off in a game there wasn't a bad tackle in? Perform like this in my profession (primary teaching), children would learn nothing and I would be out of a job, so whats different when a so called ref can have the gall to rob fans of what was a decent game in such an appalling manner?

If action is not taken on Mr Kettle after this performance and Mick Harford is the one fined, just as managers usually are, then something is wrong.

Why should a manager keep quiet after what went on at Oakwell? If no action is taken, then authorities need to take a long hard look in the mirror at themselves."

"A very good game spoiled by Mr T Kettle. He was Card happy having sent off 2 Rotherham Players & Manager during the match then 1 after. The 2 during the game should never have been sent off as Burton was tripped and Williamson slipped on the icy ground. As i am a referee if i performed that badly on a sunday morning i would have expected to be dropped from refereeing altogether by the FA."
    sward1986 25-11-2005 @ 01:22

EE) Rotherham players sent off, plus the manager. 8 minutes of injury time added and a contentious (did it cross the line) equaliser allowed deep, deep into stoppage time.

Here's how we felt at the time:

that Kettle decides who's going to win,or not lose, before a ball is kicked.

Ron, that is how it felt to us that day pal. Kettle is a disgrace and should be struck off the league register.

P.s. The talk about his family being Stokies is a bit embarrassing though. He's a pleb who favours one team massively over the other. Today was your turn to be "the other team" by the sounds of it.

    RE: believe it or not

The game you mention ,and todays game, are not the worst performances by Mr T Kettle. The worst by far was a couple of seasons ago at Belle Vue.The man completely lost control of the game.Awful decisions, affecting both sides.he got everything wrong. How he is still on the list beats me. /poo
