Saw Warnock ranting on the telly about some injustice or other in that 'orrible dee dah tone of his. Then said summat like, 'Why on earth was there a League ref today, we've had premiership ones all season, if that happened at Anfield there'd be a riot'.

Here's news for you ya big nosed get, tha ain't a Premiership club. And if i ever see your big chuffin' head on me telly ageern i swear i'll kick it in.

I can't believe you said that

I can just imagine the comments on here if Warnock wasn't doing a job down at the Well. Plus, who would genuinely want the Batman Returns reject acting as much of a lovely person but in the name of Barnsley FC. Not me for one.

W@nker, and will always be one

So in a straight choice between

A manager who has consistently bought well, brought players on well and kept the blunts challenging for promotion every year since we went down, not to mention helped bring them a good few brilliant cup runs, and all on little or no money

    or

    Andy Ritchie.

    You'd go for Ritchie.

Well I bloody wouldn't thanks. He could spout utter ***** every week for me if he did the job for us that he's done for the blunts.

Why do people reject possible managers on where come from or who their previous clubs have been - it makes no sense to me. I want a good manager - end of. And whatever you think of warnock the person, he is a good manager.

Compare........Ritchie laughing at the Donny match............Warnocks reaction to Rennie

Warnock would have had to be carried off the field by stewards after the Donny match
Because he feels the pain of the fans
On the other hand - Ritchie was laughing in the dug out during the Donny match
What a difference a manager makes

I loved Bassett. We never ought to have got shut of him. As well as being good at his job, he's a very decent, very amusing man. He could do absolutely no wrong in my eyes. Didn't bother me where he'd been in the past. All I cared about was that he had a cracking reputation and had done exceptionally well in the majority of his previous roles.

The only problems I had with Spackman were that he was an appalling manager; spent all our money on sub-standard footballers; lost the majority of matches; had us well on the way to relegation by the time he was - mercifully - relieved of his duties; and was a smug lovely person.

Other than that he did well for the club.

Cue pathetic 'Latrino' taunts, I expect!

I agree that Spackman had something of an annoying metropolitan southern poufta feel to him with his long trendy overcoat and turned up collar whilst stood at pitch side, as opposed to someone like Warnock with his belligerant attitude spitting bile and filth at officials.

What do you want as a fan ?

Personally, I want us to win at all costs.

I don't care how it happens - just win. If it has to be ugly, physical, alehouse football, that suits me.

I admire Warnock. He stands up for his team no matter what and doesn't suffer fools. He cares about HIS club - "Sheffield United are the greatest club in the world" - and knows how to get results. Criticism is water off a duck's back to him. Oh, and he can spot a player.

I'd settle for that at Oakwell. End of the day, I'm not bothered about being entertained. The feeling of winning is all that matters, at least for me.

warnock was spot on with his comments

Firstly paddy kenny had to go yesterday. Warnock knew it, readings manager knew it, the whole stadium knew it but the ref decided that when the ball was travelling towards the net and the only thing between goal and ball was paddy kennys hand then it wasnt an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Then in the last minute sheffield united were denied the most blatent penalty ever. Even readings manager said that the referee was probably evening up for his mistake in the first half. The interviewer from ITV's 'the championship' said that its what referees do and warnock quite rightly pointed out that the referee should not be in the job if he is so weak as to try and put things right afterwards. if he cannot forget about an incident and move on then he should not be refereeing.

I agree in so far as supporting your team is an emotional rather than a rationale experience. It's a strange paradox that you can put your support for your club into its proper context in the great scheme of things yet allow results to affect your mood state so powerfully.

    What i meant was

Not once had i mentioned Andy Ritchie in my post, just said how much i despise Neil Warnock, or can't you see that?

    RE:wise words

Funnily enough, it doesn't ruin my mood anything like as much as it used to.

Barnsley's results used to dictate how I felt for the rest of the weekend and the beginning of the following week. Now I just shrug it off. I can't do anything if they lose. And what difference does it really make if we win? Doesn't put money in my pocket or whatever.

Maybe I'm sort of losing interest. I can't make many games these days because of work. I feel that if I could stay away on one of the occasions when I can attend, that might be it for me. I go more out of a sense of duty than excitement, anticipation, or hope. Like going to see a miserable and rude elderly relative - I don't want to be there, but I feel I have to be.

I support a club surrounded by negativity and mediocrity. One that's happy to settle for merely continuing to exist rather than progress. You may call me a fair-weather supporter because of that, but I'm a bit sick of it all. Football used to be the highlight of my week. Now it impedes upon my free time, when I feel I could be doing something so much more interesting.

Very well put that man. I fear that there are a lot of people who feel like you.

Me and my mate say pretty much the same thing - that match day is thse days only a social occasion and actually getting up and leaving the pub to go to the game is very often the bad part of what is otherwise a good day out. One day I think we'll get another pint and stay in the pub.
