defence is a lot more solid, just still need to score a few more goals and get the goal difference positive for once

In a few words The Team. He has simply brought into the club players who are more talented than the players he shipped out. You only have to look where the players he let go are plying their trade. He has also surrounded himself with a good back room staff. Credit to the Man.

Someone on here was saying that we've actually scored the same number of goals as by this time last season, we've just conceded 10 less (as of 2 games ago).

For me, the quality of the players has improved significantly. Souza, Foster, Da Silva, Nyatanga, Ferenczi, Muller. These are all championship standard, if not higher in some cases.

Davey still seems a little naive at times, but for me his strongest attribute is that he isn't afraid to ring the changes. When he came in, we weren't scoring goals - so he replaced the strikeforce. Last season, we conceded too many goals. This season he completely replaced the defence. Lacking quality in midfield, brings in Da Silva. New forwards not doing the business, brings in Macken. Not afraid to drop Kozluk, despite bringing him in on big wages. No one is guaranteed a starting place, and the competition seems to be working a treat.

On the minus side, we have picked up a mediocre squad player for every signing that's been a success....

Yep, just to think that ritchie said just before he left that it was not realistic to think we could ever manage it back to the prem. Davey has instilled a work ethic into us that proves million pound strikers (eg - Eastwood - on bench for wolves!!) is not the be all and end all.
Now not for one second am i saying we are going to go up - but how nice is it not to be just aiming for 4th bottom which really i think we all expected to be!!!
