Connor made it clear he wanted to leave and with 6 months left on his contract club felt that had no other option, ok makes sense.

we have knocked back Watkins transfer request? 6 months on his contract. so is it just a case that no one has actually bid for him?

Market value and opportunity for Conor is far greater I imagine. Plus I'm sure we don't want to decimate the squad and the bid for Conor came in first.

Give it time, we will give away any players anyone wants at any price and the jolly people of this board will build them a statue to congratulate them on getting to leave.

Conor was expendable, Marley not so.

Hourihane and Winnall both told Cryne they wouldn't be signing a new contract this year and made it clear last summer so we had time to get some replacements in. I'm sure we didn't expect them to move in January but they made to clear what would be happening long term.

Watkins was obviously very happy up until these last couple of days. It's the end of January nearly and there was no chance of us having a bid in for another player as a replacement.

Another factor could be that we got Watkins for free so if we left at the end of the season we haven't lost anything.

No-one has offered us enough for Watkins. I expect him to leave still.

I said yesterday that it didn't make sense him putting in a transfer request. It still doesn't. The only possibility is that the club have had a derisory offer that they didn't even consider but that Watkins wanted the move because of the money that was on offer for him and has put in the request in a fit of pique! Well done the club for standing firm. Watkins was my favorite player but has gone down a lot in my estimation over this.
