Found this in my archives made me laugh and worth sharing, SEAN LEWIS EXCLUSIVE - 10/07/03 BARNSLEY chairman/chief executive Sean Lewis has outlined his vision for the future at Oakwell and spoken of his desire to build a commercially viable business surrounding the club in the near future. Speaking to around 400 members of the Official Supporters Club and Supporters Society, Sean spoke about developing the club for the benefit of the local community. Sean said: “We plan to commercially develop Barnsley Football Club – that does not mean building a housing estate. In the short term that means things like a social club for supporters and there have been discussions today (Wednesday) that will see a major improvement in the bars inside the stadium. We have to open up revenue streams at the club for the benefit of all. “Football is a community sport and we must have the community with us. We have a greenfield site at Oakwell and we have the opportunity to start again and build something that we can all be proud of. “There is a great opportunity in Barnsley for the development of a multiplex cinema, an ice rink or anything that will make our football club the focus of the local community. There is the opportunity to bring companies like McDonalds to Oakwell. We have the chance to do something stunning for everyone. “We now have the chance to put past history behind us and I am willing to talk to anyone that can help me take our club forward. I need the local community to help as much as possible. Anyone who is genuinely interested in being behind Barnsley Football Club and take us forward can come and talk to me”.
