taking my son on Sat who is 4 in September. Not expecting him to last the distance concentration wise but he is genuinely excited about going to watch "daddys team" (wont take long for that excitement to be drained out of him under the current management). Question is when is a good age to take him regularly? wasn't thinking to take him again this season but possibly a few games in the 10/11 season when he is five. Or should I try him this season and risk scaring him with the corwd size / atmosphere (relative to a 4 year old obviously). Any thoughts?
I got my lad a season ticket last season, he wasn't 4 until December either but he loved it! Think he only missed the night games. He got well into the games, sings his own version of songs! lol
To be honest, it all depends on the area your going to sit, iif its the East stand, i reckon regulary next season aswell, if its Ponty,i would keep away untilhes 7-8
Take him to both friendlies if you can The relaxed atmosphere and hopefully good weather will let him enjoy himself a lot more then take him to perhaps one or two low pressure games throughout the season when the crowd is likely to be a little smaller. Get him a scarf, flag and nice red hat for them games and he should enjoy himself even if the game isn't too good
I was 11 before I took to watching football regularly. I think my kid brother was about the same age too although I remember taking him to a few games when he was around 7 or 8.
RE: Take him to both friendlies if you can that is the theory on Sat - small crowd, nice weather, new t-shirt etc. Main concern is when he starts school next Sept (in Leeds) I want him to have some sort of loyalty so he doesn't get tempted by his mates supporting the white *****. see how sat goes I guess.....

Im Taking Mine To The City Game He turned 3 in May if he enjoys it i may do as someone above suggests & take him to afew games with not much riding on them.
Took my son whe he was six and we were in league one. hes gone from asking "are we going home soon dad?" after 20 minutes in his first game, to not going at all to now never missing a home game and getting shirty if were not travelling to away games. One things for sure - Any kid that snubs a life time of armchair worship in favour of supporting their smaller local club deserves respect because its bloody hard work sometimes!
William can go on his 6th Birthday and no sooner. Unless the in laws try to corrupt him to the fowls before then
I got my lad(he were7) a season ticket last year, he say's he never wants to go again which is understandable after the rubbish last season. I will be trying again this season but it don't look like anythings going change with him or the football.
