Only team ever to get eliminated from a major tournament after a 7-1 away win in Italy? Looks very like the line-up that played away in San Marino in Turnip's last match in charge.

    Aye.

The last England side to play San Marino 'away'.

Good ol Davide Gaultieri, 8.3 seconds, still the quickest goal scored in a World Cup match (qualifier or tournament).

Nice to see future Barnsley 'star' Stuart Ripley in there. Scored a beauty on debut against old club Blackburn, then nowt else...

Graham Taylor's England was depressing. Palmer, Ripley, Sinton. ****. Smith chomping at the bit to get on.

Forgot that they played England in a week or so.
Would play Carrick in defence against them for sure.

Defenders: Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Chris Smalling, Kyle Walker.

Absolutely no need for Michael Carrick to play in defence.

    I think they should LDRed.

I think it would help the team. Very much like Swansea did against Bradford.

I think they will set up deep and the centre backs will have a lot of the ball. I think it would be good to have someone at the back who can pick very good passes from the back.

I'm not the biggest Carrick fan but would anyone else in the England team have been able to spot and play that perfect pass for Hernandez' goal against Chelsea?

He's a very good passer of the football. He can play at Centre back and yes England will have a few centre backs but Carrick can hurt them. They will let the likes of Dawson and Ferdinand sit on the ball all game and just stop the ball going in to Cleverly and Gerrard. If Carrick can et on the ball they will have to close him down and that will get the likes of Gerrard and Cleverly more space to turn and get at there defence with passes to Walcott or Johnson on the right or Young and Cole on the left.

Interestingly when he when he plays at centre half united are piss poor at the back.

    Good premier league midfielder.

    World class? Not even close.

Why not just play him in midfield?

I don't rate the bloke, personally.

But we could pick a Sunday league XI and still win, it's San Ma-fcukin-rino.

We are going to be playing San Marino DT. Not top class footballers.
I would pick him for what he can do on the ball.
