(football related before some one starts) :D

i think many peoplewould say it would be premiership realated, and although i was a season ticket holder back then i was only about 12 or 13 and i didnt really, how can i put it; understand what it was like to be a fan, if that makes sense.

anyhow, mine as got to be winning the penalty shootout at cardiff:

it was just such a fantastic feeling, and after so many years of hurt it was all the more sweeter.

When Marcelle scored against Bradford to seal promotion to the Premier, and that night must have been the best night out in town ever!

But close to that was seeing us at Wembley.

    I'm in the same boat

I was only 10 nearly 11. Really enjoyed it but didnt get the full effect. But goin to a scholl that is 45% wednesday fans, 40% man u fans and barnsley were in the other 5% somewhere. Its got to be either the 3-2 over united or 3-0 at home against the fowls. simply for bragging rights.

theres also that day in Cardiff too

    Colgan's penalty save in Cardiff

Purely because since our Wembley appearance we as fans had gone through so much in terms of the dismantling of the play off team, the managerial merry-go-round, administration and fear put into us by those who passed through as owners of BFC that financial armaggedon was looming, years of absolute dire kick & rush football, and in that one moment, Colgan's save encapsulated the hope and belief that we HAD finally turned the corner and could look forward to better football and better more secure times ahead.

Then the management of this season began....

Hendrie's goal at Bramhall Lane when we realised we were in with a proper shout of going up then Marcelle's against Bradford and the scenes afterwards on the pitch and around town. Won't ever forget that.

Well after getting married, my wife asked me if that was the best day of my life and I said it was in my top three, along with our day out at Wembley (everything is a daze after Hignetts goal, we won didn't we), and the day we won promotion to the Premiership. I didn't say which order they were in, just to give her some hope.

Completely agree. Although getting promoted to the Premiership was amazing, the Play Off win had to be it for me. After all the years of pain we had to endure and tension in that game. I'll never be able to fully describe the joy it gave me. The whole day was superb!

Not too far away was the semi final too. After losing the first leg, to put in a performance like that was fantastic! I just remember going absolutely crazy each time we scored.

It has to be the whole crowd, scarves aloft, singing "You'll Never walk alone" after the win against Bradford and the ovation that recieved from the Bradford fans who had stayed behind to witness the celebrations! I am sure it was those scenes that spurred Bradford on to their own promotion to the Premier League!
    - and it was my birthday aswell!!!

Happiest - Clint goal against Bradford

Most emotional Colgans save last May. Cried like a baby for at least 30 mins. All for the reasons Hartog put so eloquently above

when Hignett scored that first goal at wembley

Having gone down expecting to be soundly thrashed, not much can compare to the elated feeling of going infront, that amazing crowd, the sudden realisation that we were contenders in the game.

Cardiff too of course, but that one moment at Wembley edges it for me.

Day of the Bradford game from start to finish

From shopping in the morning with red & white bunting all over the market to the pre match build up to Wilko's goal to the nailbiting as Bradford hit the post to clints clincher to the pitch invasion & speaches to the Pub for several pints of Carling Premier in the rising sun to the middle of town to a hangover and buying all the sunday papers to listening to a recording of sports report with the famous music and the opening line "No doubt about the headlines today, Barnsley are promoted to the premier league..."

    I'm in tears now.

    ManU FA cup defeat

Was meant to be working at a clients office the following day.

Eventually turned up at midday after missing my first two meetings.

The client knew exactly what the reason was and gave me a right bollocking despite saying he understood exactly why it had happened. Told me if I had rung in ill he'd have kicked up a fuss with my boss, but because I'd come in and not thrown a sicky that had gone in my favour. 5 minutes after giving me a bollocking he was telling me what a great game it was and I must have had a cracking night out. Fair play, I knew I was in trouble ... but he knew there was little point going overboard and it was a complete one off.

I did have a cracking night. One of two Barnsley fans in the Sports Bar on Haymarket (off Piccadily Circus) - the whole place was cheering for Barnsley! I got bought a LOT of drinks by complete strangers.
