Wouldn't have thought in this day and age that four stiches in an ankle would require any time off.

Really? on a moving joint that can easily be opened up again - I would expect him to be out for a couple of weeks until it heals properly - its not like a gash half way up a shin for example where the skin is fairly static.
Also you dont know how deep it is.

Do we get compensation from the Norwegian FA for returning one of our players broken? we will still need to pay his wages for the 2-3 weeks he is out

Yeah surprised stiches are being used as well because glue seems to be more common these days and work better. Good shinpads have plastic protection around the ankle but footie players these days prefer to wear those flimsy looking ones that just cover a bit of the shin.

If they must wear the modern boot it is hardly surprising that these type of injuries happen. When we wore proper boots, there was never a problem.

Doubt that Pedersen will be back at Oakwell until tomorrow...Until our medical staff have inspected the damage, the club can't really issue a statement.

Not just boots either. Shinpads these days look like a flimsy piece of padding. Back in the day they would protect the ankle.
