He does seem to be immune from stick with people blaming the manager for playing him in the wrong position apparently. His passing was awful at times today, I remember that "pass" that would have put O'Brien through which he leathered straight out for a goal kick.

I'm with you. I agree he has been played out of position (though today he was certainly central for most of the game) but that doesn't excuse the amount of times he gives the ball away. It's often seemingly simple 10-15 yard passes, incredibly frustrating! Something he should be capable of, wherever he's playing.

That all said, at times he can be superb, I just wish he could cut out the silly mistakes and stop being so wasteful with the ball.

When you are prepared to do more than a simple usually backwards pass that plays someone else into trouble whilst contributing nothing you might get it wrong now and again More tackles than Perkins today.

He wasn't at his best today, but he's definitely more effective playing through the middle.

He makes a lot more passes than anybody else in the team so he's bound to misplace more. He looks to improved his defensive side too, he made more tackles/interceptions than anybody else today.

theres no danger of losing him in jan,not with the way he's been performing,,,mind you,one good game in this league and some idiot with more money than sense comes out of the woodwork and offers them more money to laik in their reserves.

Lucky not to be sent off. Booked in the first half. Tried a trip in the second half because he was too tired to track back. The ref had the whistle to his lips, but their player kept on his feet. If he had gone down, Mellis was off.

I've been mega critical of him.
Today, probably our most effective player in spite of countless stray passes.
He's miles better in the middle, and as others have pointed out he put in more tackles than Perkins today.
For me, if you don't play him in the middle, don't bother.

    Passenger, simple as that.

The lads got talent but he's lazy and i'll bet he thinks that he should be playing at a higher club than ours, you can see that in the half hearted shifts he puts in.

Yeah, there was scuffle on the sideline involving Wiseman at the same time. I think the ref may gave given him a second yellow for that. He should have walked.

I'm fairness to Mellis, he is still pretty young. Is there much age difference between him and Jennings (who has already seen red)?

Also, how old was Butterfield when he started playing regularly?

    Just asking....

Our problem is we moan when we play a midfield of Dawson, Perkins, Fox and whoever.

Mellis is a quality creative player. But we for whatever reason hate the fancy Dan stuff.

I called man of the match and got it right, some folk aren't happy unless we are just playing kick and run.

Don't worry if we get Warnock in we can forget entertainment on a Saturday afternoon. Oh wait a minute....

Good old Barnsley fans. Slate Mellis, but defend a useless little **** like Perkins or defend a pointless ****er like Dawson, Etuhu or Fox.

Made more tackles than any of our other 'defensive' midfielders have made this season.
