Not particularly

But I was justy about to reply to it when it disappeared so I back tracked and copied it. I suppose I better not post it if it's not going to be allowed. ( It mentioned old site admin if that helps)

I just think theres something wierd going on - last night I did a search on my postings cause i was looking for a link I'd posted, however I couldn't find the posting and yet I recall people had previously replied to it so I know it wasn't a case of hitting preview by mistake (which I've done a few times!)

what was you going to reply Bright Red?

And for Jay and cazi the general idea was that it is ironic that site admin were so dead set against registration saying nobody wanted it and it was that that eventually killed the BBS. They couldnt keep track of the posts because nobody registered and so that along with their own stubbenness and tommy's underage sex offences caused the site to implode.
The ironic thing is that this site is thriving on registration and people love the features that being a registered member provides.
Maybe if they hadnt just assumed that they knew what people were thinking they wouldnt look like such idiots now

I know of 3 posts at least that were there and then an hour later were not

Deep breath - here goes

That the old site admin were so adamant that nobody wanted registration and in the end it was the downfall of their BBS (along with tommy being a convicted of underage sex offenders of course. oh how we laugh at him) and now this site is great and one of the reasons is the registrations.

Yeah, true enough.
But I don't think compulsory registration would have worked. I think fringe members of the community who read with varying frequency but rarely or never post, would have been further marginalised by the need to register.
Here we have the best of both worlds - register for the extra features and to ID-protect your nickname, but still allow guests to access and post at will.

In their defence

there were several posts questioning whether people would register to use the old BBS and a very high percentage of the responses was No. With that in mind, I think it's fair to say that the conclusion was that registration wouldn't be a success.

RE: what was you going to reply Bright Red?

I was always against registration cos I thought it meant that everyone had to register and if that was the case then I don't think that many folk would be on here. However, without full registration then many of the problems that folk complained about would not be solved. It does stop other people using your name (unless you know the trick to get round that!)

A total censor of everything you write would be better to be honest!
