Good win today, the first half performance is what we pay our money for and I don't think it's too much to ask to play like that every time we're at home for most of the game. Some of the failings in the team/tactics/mentality were still blatantly obvious in the second half but to be fair to Flicker he has recognised this in the post-game interview. 1. We can't just try and shut up shop once we have a lead in games as we actually end up giving the opposition more opportunities to score and look less solid than when we are open and expansive, we clear the ball and just continuously comes straight back at us. It could have easily ended up like against Charlton or worse today. 2. We seem to have gone back to the Keith Hill style of going backwards, some balls will come off, some won't, but going backwards and then losing it in our own half is frustrating and causing us to concede goals in moves which could have given us a good opportunity to score ourselves. Thought Perkins was particularly guilty of this today. 3. Dawson put the effort in today, as usual, but there were too many times where he cost us possession, sometimes in very worrying areas of the pitch. Apart from the effort I have to say I'm not sure what else he contributes. He broke from midfield today and got into good positions only to shoot high and wide (think he did that twice) which is fair play to him for getting into the position but unfortunately he's one where one in twenty of his shots might have a chance of going in...someone like Mellis here instead would nearly always test the keeper. 4. We desperately need Cranie back, he's no Vincent Kompany but things seem a lot more comfortable defensively when he's playing...not sure who I'd drop though but it wouldn't be Wiseman, I haven't seen him put a foot wrong for a long time. 5. We have a lot of supposedly creative players but hardly any of them play. Surely Jennings and McCourt can get themselves something like match fit in two weeks, and why is Cwyka not getting more action?
