    Time to go now.

Done fantastic getting us to 2x finals and with that we should give him credit.

He’s also lost us 2x finals tho with the wrong tactics at crucial points in the game.

With having the best generation of players coming thru for a while we need to be playing with more risk and on the front foot. We had the best player in the Prem, Bundesliga and La Liga in a white shirt tonight yet we can’t let them flourish as we are more interested in not losing the game. We have the players……we don’t yet have the manager.

At 1-1 there was a question in who wanted to win it more…….it wasn’t us.

For me……if it’s English then get Eddie Howe.

If we go foreign again then the FA need to chuck loads of money at either Pep or Klopp. Ppl might think it’s crazy but as far as international football is concerned……we are the only big nation to not win a trophy for what will be 60 years when the next one comes along. What’s bigger than that.

Of those ten there are only three I’d definitely say no to - and I’m not certain I rate Southgate above even those three.

I applaud your consistent defence of him but surely even you can see what his weaknesses are - and how they don’t fit with the current squad of players we have?

He’s got to go surely, his natural negativity will never let us win anything

Need a manager who’s won something. Should just wait until Pep gets bored at City.

Should the start point be (not necessarily a reason to keep) but who's available? Who'd take it? And Who'd turn 2 finals into a win and 1 semi final into a final.

    The majority would want

    (1) English Manager
    (2) Proven Manager
    (3) Someone who's got experience

Look at the Margins we have to work with?

Don't get to a final = sack em
Don't win a final (same as southgate) = sack em.

    Impossible call

I think he’s done wonderful things for the national team and game but it’s probably the right time for a change both for him and the national game.
    Thanks Gareth and good luck.

Maybe it is time for Gareth, he may feel he has done as much as he can. Time will tell.

However those wishing him away as quickly as possible, be careful what you wish for.

Did you not read the paragraph above it?

If it gets to you then maybe step away from the board for a while. Obviously feeling a tad hurt tonight no doubt?

As opposed to managers who don’t get us finals and don’t win them.

Yes read it all, and while disappointed I'm not hurt.

Just staggered by the continued arrogance of people.
    Southgate lost us 2 finals?
So when we succeed it's luck or the players but when we fail it's Southgate?
    It's utterly ridiculous.

I have no issue with anyone saying they think we should try and new manager and Southgate has had a long stint in the role. I admit you praised him too and have been more fair than some.
It's just this self entitled view that we SHOULD be winning tournaments.
We laugh at the Massive down the road then as England fans many just act the same!

I genuinely think he’s done a great job of getting us to 2x finals. It’s not been done since Alf Ramsey. He deserves every credit for that.

I kind of see where the poster is coming from tho with that comment.

We have a fantastic crop of players. Most of them play for teams who play on the front foot at club level.

As much as Southgate supporters want to make the negative ones realise how great he’s done…..let’s not forget how poor we have played whilst having an easy route to the final. It calls for a fantastic debate.

The draw opened up for England yet performance wise we’ve been poor. Please don’t say we haven’t as the stats for the tournament show how poor we have been too. Our XPG is low for every game. Croatia had higher yet went out at group stage. Granted stats aren’t everything.

What I want to see is someone play on the front foot who isn’t scared to go at teams. Whenever we play a big team we go into our shells. If we went at Spain tonight at 1-1 I’d like to think the result may have been different. We had them pegged in.

Southgate. Thank you so so much for bringing us to 2x finals. It’s a genuine thank you but for me it’s time to pass the baton.

For me he can do whatever he likes. He took over the worst England side in my lifetime and built a culture and camaraderie that gave them belief they could actually win things. Starting out with mostly kids, he created a genuine expectation that we should reach the final and or win every tournament despite no side doing either of those since ‘66.

I only have 2 criticisms of him in this tournament.

    1) Kane was clearly unfit and should not have been starting games
    2) His side didn’t come out at the start of the second half in the final… they were asleep on the job. If we hadn’t let them walk through unopposed at that point I firmly believe we would have won that game. We still nearly equalised at the end!

He can choose to step away.. and if someone else wins with this side he still deserves credit for getting them to where that is possible. Or he’s well in his right to want one more crack.

I think the players don't take enough responsibility. If we had won many would have said it was because of the players. Because we lost to a goal that wasn't far from being offside it's Southgate getting it in the neck.

The only two worth having are Pep or Klopp and neither are going to come. Liverpool fans can't stand the national team and Jurgen wouldn't want to damage his relationship with them.

Guardiola has never managed at international level, he's had 2 jobs... Barcelona & Man City...not the hardest jobs in the world.
