I don't think he knew, at times he was playing in a front 3 with no midfield, hence the long missiles from defence.....incoming!

I hate it when we sign players and then play them out of position. Daggers today out wide, we did the same to Haynes most of the time, problem is then we have no pace up top with Gray etc so the defence have little to worry about.

I have it on good authority that he hasn't got much of a footballing brain I'm afraid - a tryer, but doesn't read the game.

At the start he was the right player of the 2 central players behind the 2 strikers in a 4222. To me it looked like:

    ----------Steele
    Bob---Foz---Jim---L2LB
    ------Miles--Perks
    ------Dags--VazT
    -------CD---AG

It didn't work as we had no width due to not having the full backs to do the role. Maybe it was meant to be a tight diamond with Dags on R and Perks on L with Miles and Vaz as the points. It was awful anyway. Lost count of the amount of times we basically had nobody on the right side of the pitch other than Hassell on the halfway line in the 1st half. And we had Jay Mac on the other side, nuff said.

The formation was indeed a melon scratcher, and I arrived at the same conclusion (4-2-2-2). Would love to have taken a peep at Keefs drawing board to see how it was meant to work in theory

Same here. One of the worst home debuts i've seen from one of our players for years.

It's a bit unfair to judge him on today's performance considering the abject team performance he was part of. Messi would have looked w@nk today.

I'm not judging him on anything but what he did today, based on what others in recent years have done on their home debuts.

That's very sad because you could see that is heart was in it and he wanted to impress, he just looked very out of his depth which is how most of our players looked in this game

Brian Howard begging to come back and we end up with Dagnall from Scunny

I'm all for these lower league 'diamonds' but Hill needs to mix it with championship level older heads

Exactly my point. Today was abject and he was a new player in a woeful team performance.

I'd love to see Howard back but I suspect a player like Dagnall is earning a fifth of what Howard is on, possibly less.

But with less than a tenth of the talent!!!
    And there lies the problem.

Maybe he is, but his next contract will be another matter entirely. I imagine the offers he supossedly has at the moment are considerable reduction to what he is getting at Reading.

He hasn't really been a consistent championship player since he left BFC.
